You click combine once and it makes them all. Of course no one enjoys it, but it’s not hard.
Yup. Click Combine All and then do something else while it stacks the results in your bags. Then you can do mass turnins to the npc. I forget, but I think metal bits stacks to 1000, so 2/4 turnin slots. One turnin.

Argument kind of defeats itself though right? It's trivial to get the plat to buy white wine or do metal bits combines, etc, so why add a trivial hurdle in the first place? Instead of having a single button press to combine bits and then another to turn it in, just have a button that lets you pick the race in the UI. Maybe you have to click it 4 times to recreate the experience.

Race unlocks would be interesting if they removed all faction quests, then it would something to do, but then people would be even more pissed. As they are right now they are pointless and boring. It also leads to some weird 'arcane knowledge' loops like if you wanted to go Ogre Paladin as your first, you have to not pick your third class at 10 so you can farm plat to unlock a paladin race prior to the 11 lock in, etc. I just don't understand what it adds to the game.

Anyone fuck around with a wiz yet? I'm imagining some pretty badass burst/aoe combos involving a wiz/pally/enc mix but not sure how viable something like that would be when actually played

But I haven't heard anything about wiz so far and I'm wondering if it's a lackluster class or no one has really experimented

Part of it is that the restriction appears artificial to milk money out of people. The sky quests are not hard, they are just RNG heavy since you need to use you d0 instance charges to farm them. If the unlocks were more interesting/fun then there might be another reason. If you are targeting bees for example, you'll spin up d0 sky, invis to bees, kill the bee, do it again and then you're waiting for another instance charge. You already burned them so you can't go do a dungeon on another loadout or something, you just gotta wait. Depending on RNG you could get 10 bixie blades in a row or never see one. They claim they are going to make it so the drops are weighted towards your equipped loadouts which is good and bad. Good if you already have that class to 50 and can do sky, but bad if you're trying to unlock a new primary to level up from 10.

The fact that there are 0 alts so you can't try out other builds and stuff without deleting characters or running on other servers is a direct downgrade from what we already had with THJ. Like it or not, THJ proved it was possible to have unlimited alts and builds so the only question is WHY you can't on EQL. Them coming out and saying 'hey there is a really tedious and gay way to unlock classes, or give us $15 bucks' feels bad to most people. Nobody cares about $15 bucks, you just don't want to feel scammed.
That's the thing, I don't feel scammed for $15. DBG has kept the lights on for a 27 year old dinosaur that should have died a long time ago. Comparing it to some guys that were doing it without any rights to the game doesn't seem like a fair comparison. It's like bitching about paying for a movie ticket when I can just download it from IPT.

I did a wiz/war/clr to 30. It brings me great joy to blast things in an explosive manner.

Can't say how well it would do vs cazic or some other assbeater boss, but it was great fun vs lizards.

Wizard gets pretty powerful when you use motes to upgrade your spells. I played Pal/Wiz/Bard and it is a lot of fun. When it goes live it's what I'm going to start with.

If they're offering an option to pay to unlock class/races from the get go that shit best be account wide and not just character specific
I highly doubt it will be because they're greedy cunts but it should be.

I was envisioning aoe for mass trash mob killing for AA farming- rain spells apparently don't hit you here so nothing stopping you from spamming yourself with aoe and rain stuff after grabbing a group of trash mobs. Pally for heals/buffs/survivability and Chanter (or bard) for cc and mana regen.

I was raking in AAs with Slay 3 in lguk on thj but I remember wishing I had a good aoe solution.

No idea how good a wiz/pal/enc (or bard) combo would be vs bigs tho. I mean chanter has a v good slow...

Daybreak hasn't kept the lights on, the fans have. THJ showed that EQ is mismanaged. You say it's a dinosaur that should've died along time ago, but the reality it's a mismanaged IP that is being wasted by people that played no part in creating it.

It's nothing like that at all. It's like paying for a movie ticket than when you get inside you're forced to sit behind someone with a 10 foot hat unless you pay another 15 dollars and them not telling you this until after you already paid for the ticket.

We both know that's a scam you're just a cuck defending the scam.

Unless you want to play on another server why would you really need anything to be account wide? You can't even have two characters on the same server.

These people change their mind every other patch, the character limit now could be lifted in a week, who knows. Either way, it's annoying to have to delete a character if you want to try a different combo, so you'll either roll on a different server or delete your character each time given the race/class combo you want doesn't work.

Something I just learned about Slow on EQL. It's still importent but not the overwhelming I Win button it used to be.

That's just what they decided on as part of the gameplay loop. They were up front about it, so that's that. Put a bit of money in the machine or just grind it out. Having the option is nice. Everyone can choose which path they want to doing the classes and races.

Funnily enough, Brad did come back to SOE after they bought VSoH, to work on the EQ expansion Call of the Forsaken. Steve Clover also returned to SOE, and then fucked off with Brad to make Pan'theon. Bill Trost went on to have a career helping make successful MMOs like Defiance, New World, and Ashes of Creation.

The uncomfortable truth here is: the IP has been mismanaged from the start, and you can lay most of the blame on John Smedley. SOE back in the day thought that EQ was lightning in a bottle, so they tried to diversify and catch another lightning. That is how you got things like Free Realms ... which, totally would've worked, if it was just more like Roblox.

The money EQ made wasn't spent on EQ, technical debt was never worked on as expanions had to roll in on a timely manner, and the money it made went out the window trying to make the next big thing. This was very evident when Luclin launched, and how you got the "you have 14 days" post: Vex Thal wasn't finished when the expansion launched, masked by a tedius keying process, and Emperor Ssraeshza (who you needed for the key) being unfinished as well. Hell, the designer of Acrylia Caverns quit the company and the inner zone never got finished.

tl;dr: yeah, it's a miusmanaged IP, but the people that created it also fucked it up hard, sending it on that trajectory. Remember: Brad left AFTER Luclin.

I don't disagree with your point, but the "You have 14 days" post was in PoP...I think it was specifically the Plane of Earth B fight that led to it.

That's amusing, I'll have to try CotF someday. House of Thule is the farthest in I have ever gotten, and that was actually pretty fun.
