My prediction is that players will run with PAL+MNK+SHM for solo play then swap to specialized role builds in group play. Although this build is quite high DPS. There's a huge thread in the "neriak" section on the discord with some autist min/maxing this build already.

edit: just discovered that they made Malosi unresistable. insane
The creator is Viyro. I've been following that thread for past week and a half and everything you posted is true. I got to 50 but didn't bother running any of the planes, saving all that for release hoping they may make last minute upgrades to the loot since the revamped dungeons drops are way better. The monk/paladin combo is just too good and you can either add shaman or enchanter as the 3rd to top it off. Jiyro plan on getting to 50 as pal/mnk/shm then farm enough gear, AAs and motes (to upgrade spells) to swap to SK/nec/shm build. I've spoken to him about the SK/Nec combo and wouldn't that be too much overlapping between the two but he said no it isn't. I just hear that is really pointless to have that combo when you can have another plate class like war or even pal. As of now SK is just pretty underwhelming.

Good info, but I’m gonna wing it and just have fun.

SK, once maxed Soul Abrasion, Vamp Embrace, and spell crit chance/damage AA's is absurd. It's definitely a higher ceiling than Paladin, but Paladin has a higher floor.

Reave is also sustainable eventually whereas Smite just sucks you dry. Reave also takes a minute off Canni AA right now, but I assume that will be fixed by launch.

Eventual blaster will probably be SK/Shm/Wiz or SK/Enc/Wiz at very high gear.

Yup, smite can’t compete with reave, but the lay on hands every 2-3 minutes is the real power of Pally.

Crits look flashy because they're 300% here. But if your crit rate is 1 in 10, you could realistically go an entire boss fight without seeing one.

I think Reave should leech mana. That would help SK sustain and let them try to keep up with paladin. I dunno what warriors are gonna do.

They could double harm touch damage and it will still be worse than LoH.

I don't know if this has been posted somewhere before but I did some parsing to try and figure out how difficulty levels modify NPCs.

Hp scaling seems to work like this: for every difficulty level tier, NPCs gain 15% more hp. So D3 mobs have 145% baseline hp. However on top of this, when NPCs gain another class, they get another 50% more hp. This is multiplicative with the difficulty tier gain. I.e. a double class mob in D3 gets 1.45 * 1.5 = 2.175x hp. A triple class mob in D3 gets 1.45 * 2 = 290% normal hp. In D4 double class mobs (which is almost all of them) have 2.5x the HP as D0 and triple class 3.2x times. Spite golems are triple class NPCs, and they have a lot of baseline hp (16k on D0) so their D4 hp is 51,200.

NPC max hit damage is 5% more per difficulty tier. I.e. D4 max hit damage is 120% that of normal. Multiclassing doesn't increase this.

However other stats no doubt increase (AC and ATK) so it's not as simple as D2 mobs die 30% slower.

D0 hitpoints for some hateplane NPCs:

scorn Banshee: 10k
kirakuei: 9.4k
revultant rat: 10.2k
loathling lich: 14.3k
spite golem: 16k
ire ghast: 9.5k
abhorrent: 10.1k

I don't care about WOW selling level boosts. In that game all your achievements and faction are account wide now. Leveling to max level is trivial. But yeah, if someone wants a shortcut, they can flash their cash at it.

The loadout thing is a minor annoyance for now. I will wait to see how they implement the achievements before I get my hackles raised. But the races and primary class unlocks were expected. The race unlocks in game are pretty damn easy. Murder lots of shit, or tradeskill some shit, or buy alcohol and do mass turnins. The class unlocks are just a matter of running sky and doing quests. After your first go around to 50 you should know from talking with people what some of the metas are. If your first primary was something not in any of the current ones, well, now you have a free unlock to build one that is for round 2.

The way sky is implemented for solo is crazy easy. The only thing you might be missing by 46 is a decent weapon. Given that you can dumpster dive exceptionally good weapons in befallen, bb, najena, and now paw too, that is something of a non starter. But once you have all your keys for sky it really is as simple as having the list I linked earlier to the sky quests, pick whatever quests you want to focus on, and just walk in and destroy those mobs. Rinse and repeat. You can get to each and every island with invis. Send the quest items to your dragon hoard, and there is a bank in the quest room to do the quests. You never need to clear islands other than when doing your initial keying. Bosses can be done in their little huts or with a little patience on getting them alone in the open.

It will be tedious, but getting class unlocks done is easy as pie. The tedium may drive sales, but for an OG EQ player that farmed for months to get a single epic done that isn't even a challenge. You can do 2 runs in 30 minutes. Then go do other stuff for 90 min to get charges back, then do it again. If you're going to min/max it.
What do you mean by race and class unlocks? All classes and races were available when I started, is that changing at release?

Yeah all classes and races except Kerran were available. He's probably referring to specific class and race combos. Ogres cannot be a paladin, wizard, enchanter ect as a primary class choice, only secondary. In order to do so you can do faction quests/grinds, use the level 50 token or buy it in the MTX store once the game goes live. I got a feeling that will probably disable the in game faction quests/grinds in order to promote the store sales.

You start with a primary class/race/deity that uses normal rules and then you can select a second class with no restrictions from 1-10. At 10 you unlock a third class that also has no restrictions, but your primary class is still restricted by your race. At level 11, your primary race/class is locked in and you can no longer change it, but you can still freely change your second and third classes. So if you locked in as say Ogre Shaman as your primary, you can do any trio after locking it in that includes a shaman, but you can't change out of Ogre or Shaman on your primary.

There are a few ways to unlock additional races/classes and most involve being 50 so that's the only 'hard choice' the game enforces atm.

For classes:
- You get a free unlock of another primary class at 50
- If you do every sky quest for a class you unlock that class via an achievement
- You can pay 15 bucks in the store to buy a class unlock

For races:
- You have to hit max ally with a salad of factions related to the race you want to unlock, this is usually just turning in a bunch of vendor or trash drops to an npc
- You can pay 10 bucks in the store to buy a race unlock

For deities:
- There are currently no in game ways to unlock additional deities but they are planned
- You can pay 5 bucks in the store to buy a deity unlock

Got it, basically alt/reroll shit. If I want to spec out of my Troll Warrior primary at 50 into something a Troll can't be, like Pally, I pay $10 or do the PoS quest. Seems reasonable. Why are people mad about that?

Xmod covered it pretty well. You lock your first race in at char creation, and your first primary class is limited to those available to that race. First primary gets locked in at 11. Race unlocks are pretty easy. Once a primary is unlocked it is available for all races.

The down side is that all loadouts after 11 must have one of the unlocked primaries.

It's all 4 pally quests in sky, which will take a little bit of farming, which will yield you the best pally weapons in the game and a 41% haste belt. It is absolutely reasonable, do some quests you are going to do anyways, or pay $10. But haters gonna hate.

Why is that reasonable? Why should you have to do some Sky/Faction quest for that? Why should the game be designed in a way to sell you shit that's core to the gameplay, especially when they already have a sub and box price? Many Class/race combos won't be able to do their epics without changing race/class/Deity.

To be clear they people taking the other side are also "mad about" it, they're just cucks that decided to take it like a bitch instead of walking away because of this.

people think they need to have every class and race unlocked from the start for some reason , so they can switch between them every day i guess? and they also dont want ANYTING to grind for at endgame ( you unlock more classes/races etc threw sky quests or MTX i think)

Yup. And they want all the gear for free too. Since that's the quests you are doing for the unlocks in the first place. Sky weapons are the absolute best in the game for all melee classes.

Iksar race unlock is super duper easy. Make 1440 metal bits. Turn them in. Buy 14 small bricks of hq ore. Turn them in. Costs 750p, which you will have in abundance after grinding in befallen and lguk.

Part of it is that the restriction appears artificial to milk money out of people. The sky quests are not hard, they are just RNG heavy since you need to use you d0 instance charges to farm them. If the unlocks were more interesting/fun then there might be another reason. If you are targeting bees for example, you'll spin up d0 sky, invis to bees, kill the bee, do it again and then you're waiting for another instance charge. You already burned them so you can't go do a dungeon on another loadout or something, you just gotta wait. Depending on RNG you could get 10 bixie blades in a row or never see one. They claim they are going to make it so the drops are weighted towards your equipped loadouts which is good and bad. Good if you already have that class to 50 and can do sky, but bad if you're trying to unlock a new primary to level up from 10.

The fact that there are 0 alts so you can't try out other builds and stuff without deleting characters or running on other servers is a direct downgrade from what we already had with THJ. Like it or not, THJ proved it was possible to have unlimited alts and builds so the only question is WHY you can't on EQL. Them coming out and saying 'hey there is a really tedious and gay way to unlock classes, or give us $15 bucks' feels bad to most people. Nobody cares about $15 bucks, you just don't want to feel scammed.
