I haven't played WOW classic. Doubt I ever will. So no idea. I'm not even 100% sure they will be selling bags in EQL. I hope they do, but they might go another route.

If we mean only the classic locked server than I guess but even with that they sold the option to copy your character so you could have one go forward with TBC and one stay perma vanilla.

I'll defer to your expertise in that area.
Bags are a fairly common QOL item in MMO cash shops. I would prefer they were available in game, but they probably won't be. If they aren't going to put them in the cash shop, we are probably SOL on bag space permanently. Which would suck, a lot. Much like OG EQ did in that regard. 10 slot bags were it until quite a few years down the line.
I am talking about classic locked and Season of Discovery.
The character copy was only sold once, wasn't done with classic anniversary they gave you the choice of free copy to locked or to progress to TBC.
I'm using locked as an example because EQ Legends doesn't have any expansions unlocked so it's base EQ
What fucking MMO's are you playing that have box and subscription mandatory then sell bags?

I'm not limiting it to just bags. Every MMO has a cash shop, and convenience/QOL items are sold in all of them. You can absolutely get to max level and do all the things without bank and bag space. Some offer up more than enough that only hoarders would need more space. But people still like more, so it is a common item offered in cash shops.
You're the type of person who yells at the clouds. I'm fine with buying bags, and obviously many others are as well. I'm not saying you should. I'm not saying I wouldn't prefer them to be in game drops. But I am OK with with buying them if that's the only option we are going to get. To me that is better than not having the option at all.

WoW and Ff14 have level boosts which yes it's a quality of life but it's not game breaking no mmo that has a box price and subscription should have something as important as bags as only buy able with real money.
You can't even remotely say boosts and bags that are practically required are the same.

Chocobo 2nd saddlebag and retainer(bank slots+AH vendor slots) which is a bit more complex than just "bags" since it also gives a lot of normal bags, but yeah you can buy additional stuff in XIV. It does go the other way a bit where you can buy a cheaper sub if you only play one char(who can be every class anyway). I usually grab an additional retainer for the new expansions launch month(costs like 2euros for the month) and then let it expire. The retards pay like 30bucks a month in sub to have max retainers though.

Fair I forgot about it because I don't need it.
But even then it's not 40 dollars per, and even then no one is excited to spend money on something like it.

You are mistaking appreciation for QOL options for excitement. I remember EQ when there were no options. It was a struggle. I would prefer more and better options, but I am glad there are some instead of none.

QoL is fine but why advocate for it in a shop to be purchased with real money instead of having it in the base game?
I mean I remember eq back in 99, it wasn't a struggle it was a product of the time.
It's 2026 we should expect QOL features in our games for free not paid. Your outlook doesn't improve EQL it actively hurts it because microtransactions for QOL is never a positive thing.
I see the suggestions for shit like buying bank space, bags, ect. Why the fuck ask to spend real money on shit that should be in the base.

WoW Classic didn't have a box price.
WoW Classic is a perfect example of what i was talking about yesterday. It was originally going to have the token and cash shop but it faced massive consumer backlash about it and they got rid of it for Classic. Companies can't just ignore consumer demands. If enough people are vocally mad about and willing to not pay, the scam practice of having 10 slot dropped bags and 40 slot cash store bags goes away. If a bunch of cucks go "please take my money!" then you will have a bunch of cash shop bags.

I accept that DBG are a company that wants money, and they already know that selling bags is a huge source of income for them. I expect that Game Jawn was given a list of things that will only be available in the cash shop, and bags are probably #1 on that list.
I would rather have the option to buy QOL in this way than have no options at all. That's all there is to it. I played vanilla EQ for years before they had any options. It was rough. You can expect whatever you want to expect. You can go without on principle if you want. That's fine. You do you. For me, the convenience is worth the price they are asking. Even moreso now that EQ has the personas system, and EQL has loadouts.

You're starting with the false premise that the options are
A) Big Store bags, Small in game bags
B) No new bags
The reality is
Option
A) No new bags(P99 style)
B) New in game large bags example +X Dragon bags having more slots, No Cash shop bags.
C) New big bags in game and new Big bags in the cash shop. (like THJ had)
D) No New in game bags, Big bags in the cash shop(Early TLP/EQL)
While it's fair to argue what's best A, B or C,
If you accept option D as a consumer you're a fucking loser.

DBG and SOE made their decision decades ago. You can hate it and complain about it all you want. If you play the games and want the QOL, your options are what they are. For me, and quite a few others, the price is acceptable. That's how markets work.
