Today was my first real venture into Sky. Made it to bee island for the first time, killed something, some fucking buzzsaw bees shredded me, and I FD'd with 200 HP left, stayed down until Mend popped, then I leapt like An Hero off the edge. Reentered instance, and buzzsaw bees were on a different island. Walked up to main bee who was completely alone and beat it down. Then beat the final boss in Sky with 100% HP and 60% mana left. I was healing myself at 80%...blowing mana like I was in Miami on a cocaine bender, too.

All this was on D0 to get a feel for the place.

Mostly a testament to SK/Monk/Shaman trio than anything else. I was farming D4 Hate earlier and pulling a train behind be and letting them beat on me while doing my chest path. After a certain point Cheat Codes Enabled happens.

I guess I will switch to D4 mote farming in Sky until my sub runs out.
D4 sky is probably the worst way to farm motes

From my understanding, every mob on isle 7 is flagged as "rare" and will be triple class on D4. Combined with being red you get maximum mote potential per kill. The question then becomes are you killing at the same speed as other D4s?

I know the marginal gains are what power gamers are all about but anyone who is contemplating D4 sky is likely already rocking +6 or better across the board so you're talking about people who's motivation is shaving a second off a CT D4 kill.

You have to admit the devs really captured the true EverQuest player with the mote system.
Playing the same 5 zones from 1999 over and over again from level 10 for .1% gain every 3 hours of play time.

As soon as I saw how the mote thing worked and spending a bit of time in befallen to level up the gear from there I was like nope. And then to claim this is some "casual" type game is fucking nuts.

EQ addicts define “casual” as anything < 4-5 hours a day

If you want to derail General chat in this game just mention Monsters and Memories. They become oddly tribalistic and start losing their shit. lol

Nice thing is when you fuck up, all the mobs come, and they all have different cast times. FD doesn't always work.

Drakes are just a patience game. They move at different speeds, so you just wait until you get 1-2 or use lull to make the leader not aggro etc.

Damn, just got one boss left to beat: eye of veeshan, that butterfly beats me even on D0, somehow none of my usual spells seem to stick to it, and I can take Cazic Thule on D2.

I think this was the fight where I needed to level up my Slow. At level 9, it almost always lands and that fight is nothing once it's slowed.

Evasive is super OP on EoV as well since most damage comes from life tap procs that require melee attack to hit.

PoA sounds awful, and I keep avoiding it by leveling one class at a time. I only have time for a few hours a week though, so this is nice filler for that.
