Not that some of it doesn't occasionally come from Japan itself (judging from the recent big Nintendo/Game Freak leak the next mainline pokemon game is suddenly cranking it to 11) but the majority of it is dishonest translations from wokealizers who need to be shot in the back of the head and left in a ditch to rot.
I grew up in the 90's so I'm no stranger to extremely poor translations of RPGs (usually by accident, lawl). The last US JRPG I have left to play is Breath of Fire 2 and I have to choose between the re-translation patch or playing it in its original stupendously bad SNES translation.
Not surprised about Pokemon. Pokemon Gen 9 (Scarlet/Violet) already had that dial cranked up with the character models. They're mostly androgynous and wearing gender-neutral outfits. Which if you know Pokemon, you know the women in Gen 1-8 sure as hell didn't dress androgynously. From Nessa to Misty and every Lass in-between. In Gen 9 it's nearly impossible to make an attractive female character.
One friend of mine who was a full-on dyed in the wool lesbian told me she realized her gayness when she was like 12 (...in 2005) and playing the Pokemon series and realized she found the female characters and their outfits far more attractive than the males.
Many gens later...not the case anymore.
I’ve always wondered why Square games pick up the odd SJW thing here and there. Then you realize that their current PM is getting buddy buddy with the Soros people and they’re probably aiming to extinct themselves as a race and/or country for Africans soon.
I can't imagine Japan ever opening their borders or going extinct.
Matter of fact it's pretty much the last fuckin' place I can imagine doing that. Japan has centuries of history of repelling invaders, holding outsiders to absurd standards, and keeping their historical identity.
Hell they fought off the goddamn Mongol Empire and how many people can say they pulled that off? (The giant moat helped, also the natural advantage England rolled at the character creation screen)
