I don't think the game will be as "open world" as people might think from reading around. Personally I think the statement "Simply pick a location" in mention of how to travel with the Highwind in the trailer means that you can jump of at predetermined locations with some indicator as you fly around showing that you can get off there.

You can fly around everywhere as they said, but like the first segment of Rebirth, the plains, is what, 20% playable compared to the map? And when they show the jump from the Highwind in the trailer, it is over the chocobo racetrack. They might have expanded some areas from Rebirth and around Midgar, but highly doubt the entire world is crafted to play on like in the OG where you can go on small islands, etc.

They did mention being able to jump off at islands, so who knows. I know they said the major limiting factor will be some areas are just too high level for the party at the start of the game. Even "zones" like from Rebirth won't be finish everything there before moving on, some areas will only be unlocked through giving chocobo more traits and/or becoming more powerful to handle higher level stuff there.

I love how in these multiverse things we give 0 F's about the other worlds, although they are meant to be "just as real" as "ours" - Aerith could be from the other world she took the white materia from or whatnot. Multiverse while "cool" and whatever, to me - overall lessens any impact for even "our real" world etc. it just waters down everything.

Absolutely, multiverses shit up everything. The latest Mortal Kombat game has like 20 universes combining so nothing means anything and characters get killed off constantly only to return one scene later. MVs are a crutch for lazy writers and make the audience not care.
