I plan to switch most likely.

Since at least in beta it seemed really behind. I checked some of other servers and they had 40-60 level 29+(I used this critera cause I was spending hours trying to find groups for 29+ dungeons) compared to about 9-12 on Malboro. Now it could be people just didn't feel like leveling that far or other factors, but it just seemed less crowded.

Granted it helps to have a static group or guild(FC) but that's not always possible. I would prefer something between say medium and high or just straight High/Full. I'd rather have it super crowded and maybe even a queue or listed full the first 1-2 weeks but have a healthy population later, then the opposite.

Oh and good grouping with you, that Saturday was amazing and so smooth :p Would of loved to continue Sunday into the 32 dungeon, but didn't seem to be in the cards ;P

Yeah Marlboro was low pop. I leveled my THM on an euro server since friends wanted to play on that instead and there were a lot more people there, and even that server wasn't one of the highest pop. Finding groups for dungeons shouldn't be an issue once they add the duty finder, but the problem comes from finding leve grinding groups or raid groups or if you need something crafted and what not. Also class quests and shit later on which I believe will become group based eventually.

Just looking class abilities it seems like PLD becomes an even better tank than WAR than GLD is to Marauder. -25% dmg skill they get compared to WARs +25% hp is just no contest as we all know how much better mitigation is than just hp.

If you want the most immediate benefit, a GPU is going to do you a world of good. 9800 GT is actually pretty old.
It is. I got this rig a long time ago to run LotRO.. Any good ideas on one to shoot for? I should just be happy that my computer can even run this, but if getting a GPU makes it even decently playable I will go with that for now.

Yeah I finally got 2 runs of Brayflox's in about 12pm CST, a couple hours before the server went down. I was waiting for a tank, checking back every hour or so (it's nice there's no auto-logout yet that I know of) Finally Delius or w/e logged in, the GLD we were with the night before and we got to it. It was fun but even with the supposed over-tuning they gave it, it seemed less challenging and memorable than the first run of Manor.

I have a stupid question. I totally didn't even stop to look for my WHM job item anywhere. Is it even possible yet to get a job on non legacy servers?

It definitely seems that the people trying to power level will need a static group, at least on a population like Marlboro. I played with you guys for a while on Friday (Syia Pokes), but when I hit 32 I found myself going and soloing lower level FATES. I had finished the hunting log besides level 38+ monsters, no quests were available, and I couldn't find any on level leves which led me into soloing FATES or grinding monsters. The chocobo companion is a huge help though, making some on-level fates doable alone.

Eastern La Noscea had lvl 30 leves in Costa del Sol. I did those at +4 difficulty easy at 32 with my chocobo. Some of them were shit though like the /beckon the baby buffalo over to his herd and the /soothe the birds at low hp. Had to stick my chocobo in healer stance for that one because he would just wreck them before I could /soothe. I have to say, the use of emotes in quests is new to me, and the /beckon for escorts sure is annoying.

I must have overlooked them. Another note is that almost everything in the UI can be dragged into action bars. This includes the /beckon emote and raid marks.

Don't forget that the story quest goes all the way up to 50. There's a great deal of missing quest XP that you don't have access to right now.

Also don't forget that this is still closed beta. I highly doubt that there will be population issues upon release, or even into phase 4.

I'm planning on playing on whatever server has the highest amount of forum folk on it, for the most part. Nobody I know in the reals of life are interested in this game because they are effectively gay ("Lawl that game tanked, I'm not playing a dead game!") and very dumb or in grad school with zero time to play.

At this point, basically planning on leveling to 15 to get airship access with a Cnj, then grabbing the three gathering skills and going full on tradeskill whore during open beta(or two if fishing isn't in). There's a shitload of synergy between each tradeskill and the others from my experience (started running into alchemy/blacksmithing/armorsmithing required mats while leatherworking, and that means each gathering skill feeds the non-related tradeskills tangentally as well) and by exploiting the leves for gathering to get ahead of the mats curve, I should be able to provide level specific gear for my entire leveling process and produce some cash as I go. Creating HQ stuff will probably be the key source of dollar bills at all level ranges, and if you get far enough ahead to equip some of the higher +concentration gear, popping out HQ stuff that the rest of the server is around level-range wise should make a deal of bank.

Theoretically, at any rate. I literally was having so much fun running around whacking at trees and stones and shit that I had to force myself to log off so I wouldn't feel like I was retreading ground during the release-savable stages and beyond. Plus I feel that if I make HQ gear for each of the archetypes at each level range that leveling them won't feel like so much of a chore as stuff will just die so much faster. Min max to the max, mothafuckas.

Problem I've seen about focusing on gathering/crafting is leves are gated through a combat leve unlock quest thing in each zone, so you need to be able to complete it to unlock the related gather/craft leves. Guess you could get someone to clear them for you but still a bit annoying.

I might do something similar(and leveling a couple of alts to 12ish to unlock leves so they accumulate points over time to do crafting shit I won't take on my main) depending on wether or not arcanist is available at the start of P4 or what. Maybe leveling CNJ to 34 for Stoneskin for my other jobs as it scales a ton better than Cure at higher levels, and lvling THM to whatever you get the instant spell for. Hopefully the CNJ stuff would get me the chocobo which seems to make leveling early on a ton faster.

Yeah, I figure through working through leves for all the tradeskills and all the gathering stuff, I'll have plenty of time to work the Cnj up enough to clear the related combat shit. Especially since the synergy really becomes apparent once you get to the 16-21 level tradeskill stuff. Which, considering it takes forgoddamnever to raise the botany and mining stuff to appreciable levels (or simply super repetitive if you aren't using the leves) should give me lots of time to work on the combat style quests cnj style. I'm not really in a hurry to hit max level or anything, but I do want to maintain tradeskills to support my uh... tradeskills, and my leveling as much as humanly possible. Especially with having HQ gear for secondary leveling in the future. I -might- do alts, but I highly doubt it. Didn't do it in WoW and that game was tailor made for the shit. I'm a one character kind of guy.

Cnj is just to have that "hey we need a healer" type availability, as whenever Dark Knight gets implemented I plan on hitting that as main character style.

I'm rolling Conj or Arcanist on release. We will see how the Arcanist heals and support are. I like the THM but it is boring in the beginning. Ul'Dah is one nice looking zone though.

Same, I'll just jump on whatever server ISIS decides to roll on. Even if it's a "low pop" server, I'm sure there will be plenty of people around, and all of my grouping should be handled via the guild. Lolboardguild but whatever, it's not like Braen is running it!

You guys are getting all rustled for no reason. Yes Marlboro had fewer people that other servers. No this doesn't mean that it will be the same when the game is released. Even if it does, fuck being on a high pop server with the inevitable server queues. As long as we are all together, it will be fine. Max group size is 24 after all, not 40 like WoW Vanilla.

If the consensus is to roll on another server, that's fine, as long as we stick together. Everyone knows Marlboro by now, so I wouldn't want to change it unless there was a really good reason.

I'm going to be that weird dude that is rolling on a different server. I've played way too many games with forum guilds, and they always dissolve so quickly and then you're left on a server where you don't know anyone. The exception was Too Much Brown, which still holds a special place in my little Raki Paladin heart.

Perhaps, but of the interest so far, I'm pretty confident at least 8 of us will be sticking around, which is enough for everything but the 24 person content. Can either recruit more or combine with another group for the bigger stuff.

We'll see what happens (we haven't decided yet). On a side note I am still disgusted about joining PRX, something about that really rubbed me the wrong way.
