Investing in an MMO mouse helps with that. I use a razer naga hex and have a full hotbar just for mouse 1-6 + shift 1-6. Use keyboard just for cooldowns for the most part.

The combo one is interesting because theres parts of the game that do it for you. Some of the missions where you play a different character and PVP for example. Honestly they should just make the base experience like that to down the # of keys that need to be pressed.
Agreed, I used a Steelseries mmo mouse for it with 3 keys mapped to CTRL, ALT and SHIFT so I could spam 1-6 as well. Once I discovered combo however, I liked it better though I kept the mouse mapping intact.
There were also a couple of patches which broke combo so I had to revert to this setup.

This one in particular was with Gshade, which I think for a while was even OK with the FF devs (but I could be wrong on that) - The issue was the dev of Gshade had an ego and would keep requiring updates etc. that people felt weren't necessary, so some folks round a way to skip the mandatory updates.
This got him salty and the ego kicked in, so if you ended up using the bypass to the updater, he had a script run that would tell windows to restart. Was more childish than harmful but the whole thing was a stupid idea on his part.
And the plugins / addons fear is still warranted, they have ones in the launcher that they've vetted to be 'safe' but they'll always advise to exercise caution using ones they haven't approved.
Other than that, as you've said, pretty much don't be stupid and stream it/tweet the FF devs to give them evidence you use the shit and its your account etc and they wont do anything. I feel aside from legal reasons, Yoshi P doesn't care. Just hates it making the product look bad.

This is true. By Japan law the contents of peoples PC's are private. That being said, there's no reason that they can't for example, make the normal FF14 launcher sent a certain packet to the server, which XIVlauncher wouldn't sent, thus letting them tag accounts that are not launching the game with the default executable.
There are myriad ways they could tell if people are using addons that don't require scanning the PC. Right now, they don't really care, until we make them care, but if you use addons, the Sword of Damocles is perpetually hanging above your head. Not worth it imo.

It wouldn't ask you to "restart" it would force a restart on a Windows machine(which means he was using Windows permissions to get around security systems in place)... Github promptly stepped in and shoved his whole project up his ass afterwards.

Correct, never said ask. The script itself would send the command for windows to restart as you reiterated. Either way, yeah guy got owned for being stupid and now its a dead project.
Which is also sad cause I have tried to use re-shade since and even with the same presets I can't make it look quite as I liked in in gshade.

If you use 3rd party repos, you really need to know what the code does that you are grabbing from there.
It's important to understand that the XIVLauncher is a botting program and as result, has access to anything needed to make botting a reality. So when you grab a 3rd party repo from a shady place, may as well just assume it's going to have access to your entire PC.

I'm assuming this references GShade, which would just shut down your computer using 'shutdown -s' forcefully if it detected you were modding it in a way the author didn't want.
Barely qualifies as 'malware' these days, but still destructive enough to qualify. How far have mischievous little shits fallen in recent years that this qualifies as malware...
Not even opening your CD-ROM drive, or filling your screen with rainbow text as "HEY EVERYONE, IM WATCHING GAY PORNO" plays in the background at full blast... nope.
Just shuts down your PC. At least make it fun or interesting if you're going to be an asshole to people.

Depends. If you don't care about the pig earrings, the hair style is a rare drop from the HoH deep dungeon and usually goes for million+ gil on market board. If you don't care about that, maybe the Magitek Predator mount (the FF6 in-game style magitek armor). It is a rare drop from a Stormblood dungeon.
