I would guess you would only go to those lengths when the interior was either unsalvageable due to age/damage or bringing it up to modern usability/safety standards would be basically impossible. Also, lots of times the cities want to keep the exterior look but the buildings themselves aren't especially notable, like a random apartment building or something.

So just tear down the facade as well and just rebuild to look like it was before. Maybe im retarded but seems very wasteful to go to that effort to preserve nothing more than bricks and windows.

No idea about the cost/benefit, just that some places have pretty stringent rules against changing the exterior appearance of a structure. In some places it may be next to impossible to do it any other way.

Nice looking frame there, might I inquire as to the location/availability of an STL or is this one of your own design/homebrew?

Would be nice to print something more useful than little plastic toys to occupy my wife ;)
