You'd have to be crazy to pay them directly month-to-month anyway. Even now after all the sellers hiked their price Eneba keys are still 40% cheaper.

This seems pretty retarded considering Xbox already kind of feels like a sinking ship, but I guess that's par for the course with everything else they've done since the DEI hire took over. I was actually kind of surprised when I checked my sub and it still doesn't expire for ~2 years. I half expected them to pull a Sony and recalculate everyone's sub based on its cash value.

I feel like we are at the beginning of the subscription mutiny. I used to have a 2 to 3 going a year but the prices and value have decreased so much that it's just not worth it anymore. Factor in EVERYTHING having a subscription model and there's just nothing left to squeeze out of your average US consumer.

I cancelled a lot this year:

Disney+ - can't share with family (different houses) anymore, not worth it for just my house
Netflix - same
Youtube TV - shareable still, but at $83/mo (up from like $40/mo when I started lol) not worth it at all anymore, especially since TV is 99% garbage

gonna expand my plex server to another 100TB this year or next and just keep pirating everything, works out way better. I also hit that bump where I am far, far less interesting in games suddenly, would rather read a good book or take a walk than play a video game.

still have years and years of PS+, nintendo switch online, and gamepass prepaid but when they start ending i doubt i'll keep any of it.

Explain this to me like I'm a boomer.

Prices vary all the time so just check to see whether 1 month or 3 months is cheaper (ignore the "1 month" on the $53 one, they just used the wrong image and it's a 3 month key). Do not buy any of the other ones, they are all non-stackable trial memberships. Also, when you click through to buy, don't just take the featured offer on the right, scroll down a little on the left side and buy the cheapest one instead.

Honestly, the price was kind of insane. I could play Clair Obscur for $10 or the $40 or $50 box price. Or Abiotic Factor. As long as I beat it within 3 months it was cheaper. It took a week or two.

There are tons of games like this.

It'll be annoying to pay double, but still likely worth it.

Most of these games have shit replayability anyway. I give zero shits about "owning" them.

Clair Obscur was arguably the only good game that came out of this shit subscription for YEARS. The rest is recycled garbage and MS 1st party which has tanked completely in quality. They destroyed the Halo franchise (That's impressive how bad they could fuck that up), Gears, Starfield was a massive disaster, shit - anything they touch and absorb isn't providing value. Avowed was a joke, Outer Worlds 2 is a going to be another joke, Bethesda and TES6 will be a joke, the latest Doom was hilariously bad. Then, take away rewards, add some ubi slop in there from 5+ year old games and some fortnite garbage and they call that value while the game quality has been in decline for years.

Monetarily you got one very good game for years of GP Ultimate. A few others of higher than average quality (Plague Tale) and some mediocre shit (Obsidian and Bethesda and Diablo 4)

The rest, oh look there is "My Friend Pedro" again for the 6th time. Oh Look Hades is back for the 5th time. 80% of their games have been on and off Gamepass 3-6 times now. It's hilariously bad and more than noticable.

I am so glad I upgraded my PC:

Steam online - Play Free.
Discord is easy to use - free for voice chat. Much easier to join communities to find folks too if you want.
I upgrade settings in older games that now look 900x better than their console counterpart and upgrades aren't monetized. Not to menion waiting for some mysterious 60 FPS patch to hit.
I still get the home theater experience and can play most everything with my controller.

This list goes on and on. With this price point, GP Ultimate is $1800 for 3 years - that is fucking laughable. That's 30 games in 3 years of which for the past 5 years there haven't even been 30 quality releases. 15 at most.

Xbox Series X is 4 year old hardware and a joke at this point - their antiquated fixed hardware costs have gone down by at LEAST 30% by now, and now they jacked the price of that to $649 (Blamed Tariffs - I have a bridge to sell you if anyone bought that nonsense) and they still sell that BS MS branded seagate garbage for $200.

$2499 gets you a sweet new gaming rig that can play anything past and present at max settings in an office, home theater, you name it. And will blow away the next 2-3 generations of consoles and you'll buy that game once - not 3 times to unlock the game to actually utilize the hardware you bought. Talk about a fucking sham.

Consoles, and more importantly their BS services surrounding them, have become untenable. Let these fuckers rot. Both Sony and MS.

Data caps will be the next hammer to fall for consumers.

Eh for 11.99 it was whatever. I'd rather not use that site. But now they can go fuck themselves
