Easily done, this game looks like a Unity student project from 2010. Their company page has a merch store and press kit but no mention of the actual product, lol.

This is real? Holy shit. Looks like a worse version of EQOA on the PS2.

It's amazing. I went down the rabbit hole. She went to Palos Verdes High School, which is a rich, white area in Los Angeles along with Palos Verdes Estates (even more tony), so she comes from white privilege. Went to USC in the 90s, so wasn't that bright, the school was known as University of Second Choice for those of us that could do better. Majored in religion/archeology? Somehow pivoted into video gaming, who knows how.

Openly detests white people, especially males, so as SJW as you can get.....clicked on link to Unleashed's website: https://www.unleashedgames.io/

THE ENTIRE TEAM EXCEPT HER IS MALE, AND THEY ARE ALL WHITE EXCEPT FOR ONE ASIAN DUDE. So much for diversity!

Each of her avatars is probably named after one of her 20 cats, or future cats.

The fact she worked a few years at Blizzard is all you need to know about what has happened to Blizzard. Decayed from the inside.

You watched someone pretending, badly, to be a serious game developer, yet still more of a game developer than you will ever be.
Still lightyears ahead of a fat old guy pretending to be a woman on the internet for 20+ years. I notice you are angrier than normal. Job at Wal Mart got you down?

I think the Embracer story will eventually go down as one of the strangest stories in the history of video games.

What did I just watch?

I'd be embarrased to demo something like that. WTF?
Tbh, it looks fine for a complete indie team showing early functionality by cobbling together a bunch of shit from the asset store. And if any of us want "real mmos" again, we're only going to get them from indie teams doing just this.

The real problem is doing this while at the same time oozing smuggliness and hating practically all of your already very niche target audience.

Someone with reach needs to post "There would be no white women without white men" then just grab some popcorn.

TLDR version? I know nothing of their story.
TLDR went on a spending spree for studios, had a 2bn investment fall through, had to start selling/closing studios.

2011-2016 Nordic games
2016-2019 THQ Nordic games
2019-2024 Embracer group, starts gobbling up studios

Feb 2020 buys Saber interactive and 5 satellite studios for $525m
Feb 2021 buys Gearbox for $1.3bn
2020-21 buys a bunch of studios

May 2022 agreement to buy Crystal dynamics(Marvel Avengers), Edios Montreal, Square Enix Montreal
June 2022 gets $1bn investment from Saudi group.
Aug 2022 acquires Crystal dynamics, Eidos Montreal, Square Enix Montreal for $300m.
Oct 2022 makes verbal deal for $2bn investment.
Nov 2022 closes Square Enix Montreal in cost cutting.
May 2023 announces $2bn deal fell through. Stocks drop 40%
June 2023 starts large scale restructuring.
Nov 2023 lays off 904 employees, cancels 15 projects.

March 2024 sells Saber and it's satellites studios, 3D Realms, Bytex, Digic pictures, Fractured Byte, Mad Head Games, New World Interactive, Nimble Giant Entertainment, Sandbox Strategies, Slipgate Ironworks, SmartPhone Labs, and Stuntworks to Saber co-founder for $247m.
March 2024 sells Gearbox parts for $460m.

most of their buys were done with stock, for example they paid $130m in cash and the rest in stock and future scheduled payouts based on performance for gearbox. They are getting essentially $350m cash for selling it, so they are actually ahead a little since they can write off the loss in stock etc to reduce the cash payment tax hit.

its still a wildly idiotic story, they basically thought they could buy 100 gaming companies for cheap with stock, pump out a few games with old IPs to drum up some interest and then someone like Microsoft or EA would buy them for 5x their stock value. It all fell apart last year when the Saudis declined to invest another $2b seeing how the world economy was going, and then their entire strategy fell apart as it became clear no one was doing big mergers anymore. So now they are firesale-ing everything and probably sell off some of the IPs they own slowly before turning back into a tiny publisher.

So much for you fuckers sucking the Microsoft tit.

Microsoft urges developers not to create female characters with “exaggerated body proportions” on their official site to support game devs.

The site, titled “Product Inclusion Action: Help Customers Feel Seen” includes a bullet list of considerations they urge developers to make when working on their product. One Twitter user pointed out the language expressly condemning certain female characters as reinforcing “negative gender stereotypes”.

Are you reinforcing any negative gender stereotypes?
  • Are you unnecessarily introducing gender & gender barriers into your code or design?
  • Are you creating playable female characters that are equal in skill and ability to their male peers. Are your female characters equipped with clothing and armor that fits their tasks? Do they have exaggerated body proportions?
  • When the story allows, do you show male characters who display a full range of emotions, including joy, sadness, and vulnerability?

Every large company is infected with DEI and ESG shit at this point, and those departments justify their existence by churning out shit like that. The question is how much of it will make it into the actual games. Sony has been making female characters look ugly and masculine so that trannies 'feel represented' since at least TLoU2, and almost all their exclusives since then. Microsoft so far hasn't done a whole lot besides talk about it. What we've seen so far of Fable 4 certainly is a massive step in the wrong direction, but it's just one game. If they double down despite the backlash (assuming the trailer reactions carry over to a rejection of the final game as well) and continue to push this garbage in more games then yeah, they can go fuck themselves just like Sony.
