As a regular reminder. In "commie Europe land", where you have the choice between a minimum of 4 major ISP in ANY location, and half a dozen of local providers... You get €49.95 (52.5$) per month, ALL taxes included, for fiber, 1Gb down/100Mb up. The cheap version is €34.95 (although it might have raised recently). For triple-play - 1Gb internet, 50 basic TV channels and a phone number.

That's what happens when you're in a country that's capitalist... sorry, socialist.

(note: I pay 64.95€, but that's because I also have a mobile 5G with a 250Mb download cap and unlimited text/national calls linked to my main offer)

What do you think the infrastructure cost/logistics differences are between something the size of a European country and America? I'd bet substantial.

That's not Fiber. :)

Fiber is material, not speed.

Socialist countries do have some sizable advantages and there are things places like Denmark and Norway do that I really like. However the named places are also spared from the bad elements of commie-land, like rampaging antifa, free speech suppression, and 100 million people dying, stuff like that. Introduce those elements and the fun stops.

Anyway back to games!

That's the guaranteed speeds on the contract. I routinely download at 400 Kbytes (3.5 Gb). I actually thought initially it was capped... before I realized I had a Gb switch. Upgrading to a 10Gb switch changed my life :)

Might be a difference in country thing, but over here in the US when we use the term Fiber, we are inherently discussing synchronus dedicated speeds for both download and upload - IE: If I run fiber to my house, I get both (Roughly) 960mb guaranteed upload and download.

Yeah, what he has is probably fiber to the local node and then coax to the premises.

Ah. No, everyone here puts a theoretical upload cap because they do not want you to run servers at home. "Professional" bundles - expensive, even though it's literally the same hardware - are a still a thing.
That said, I have never been able to saturate my upload; the only server on which I routinely upload backups (my own) saturates on its end at around 1Gb, despite the "official cap" of 100Mb at my end.

Doesn't really have anything to do with socialism, it's all about the size of the country and the population density. The US might lag behind EU and Asian countries that are the size of a county or maybe a small state while packing 10 times the number of people into the same area, but we still have faster internet than Canada, for example.

Nope. That was the old schemes, 10 years ago when the first "fiber" were sold. No, they pulled a fiber all the way from basement to my appartment.

(it was funny at the time : salesman at the store opens interface, clicks a few things "okay, you now have fiber" "wut?" "yea, no install, it goes through your old cable" "yea, sure" - goes on to drop that one year later)

1 is a visual novel with some JRPG battles. Didn't really grab me.

2 is a cute visual novel with a few choices here and there. Very well done demo with several story threads that leave you hanging (so you'll buy the game).

3 freezes up on load.

4 Is a nice artstyle adventure game type thing. I drove a van and had a long talk with a guy that probably hangs out in our ancient civs and ufo thread.

9 was sort of a bullet hell autofire kind of thing

13 was this very odd exploration kind of game with alot of talking. I had a indicator that said "EXPLORE THE HOUSE" but I ran all around and clicked on everything and nothing happened. I feel like I'm missing some genre specific japanese knowledge here.

17 freezes on load.

Beneath the mountain is sort of a very simplified dwarf fortress that looks really nice. I got rolled.

Captain bones I didn't get far in. Lots of doing peasanty tasks.

Craftomaton is about programming little robots to do stuff, but the coding is blueprint style.

Sail forth is really cool. Little sailing game.
