Depends on the game and how the mods are set up with Steam. If buying from GoG it's also the best place to get mods. Some modders don't like Steam Workshop, so they will use Nexus instead.

Funny thing about that is I'd bet it's no more than 3-4 people making them, or at least the vast majority of them. Hell even Midnight Suns of all games has a fairly significant range of NSFW options and I'm pretty sure they're all from one dude.

Why would I buy a console when I could just build a PC? Honestly don't play that many video games anymore, but everything I do is typically on PC, and I think the last console I had was a PS3 maybe.

I think the last two games I played on my old PS3 were Demons Souls (Japanese import), and Red Dead redemption, or whatever the one that came out for PlayStation.
Maybe final fantasy 12 that I borrowed from a friend, but like combat system was just goofy and I didn't get through it.
The Glory Days of consoles were being able to play Mario kart with your buddies, or WCW wrestling on N64, and of course stuff like GoldenEye.

High end portable gaming is still pretty deluxe on the Switch, but things like Steam Deck and shitloads of good emulators these days as well.

Steam Deck is a pretty sweet emulation machine as well. Nintendo is a bunch of greedy shitfuckers that just want to rape your wallet every year for nostalgia bait, which is why buying a game even on their online platforms doesn't last. Shitty company all around, but their systems are pretty damn good even now. Get a steam deck. Download all the ROMS you want up to like 15 years ago when things started requiring online. Play in your own time and enjoy.

Only Nintendo stuff I have owned was the original NES with the little robot, did a bunch of saving and yard work and what have you to get that bastard. I got a game boy for Christmas whenever they came out, and over the years got different games like Ninja gaiden Castlevania and all that fun stuff. I think even had Robocop on my game boy.
Only time I ever got to play an SNES was over it friends house. I did get a chance to play final fantasy 2, and it was amazing.

Dude, you missed out on sooooooooo many games then. Steam Deck is really the best bang for your buck right now. Plays modern games, can be used as a remote interface for your regular steam games. And you can load emulators and ROMS onto it like mad. Arcade games, all the 8/16/64 bit console systems including every handheld ever. All runs like a dream on the emulators. Download the entire libraries for the old systems. Pick and choose what you want to enjoy, and go forth and be merry.
