I'm noticing a distinct female to male ratio in that dev team picture. This the Lifetime of dev studios or something?
I listened to this video yesterday about men’s fiction lit

A big part of the discussion is the difference between media made for men by men vs for women by women.

one of the authors said that if he wrote for Lifetime, he wouldn’t be surprised if the movies started shifting from modern suburb settings to war torn Napoleonic Europe or WW2 and be more action/violence focused.

know your audience. Men want video games that are stoic and violent, not relationship dramas filled with social dynamics and SJW topics. Women may want that in games but they’re the minority of people who would play Fable, or any of these games they’ve turned into intersectionalist Trojan Horses

The more open world games I play, the more I despise relationship options that are not built into the core of the story. To the point of hating the game. A small part of me hates BG3 because I could never tell if a line with my party members was to an interesting quest or just a way to shove some corny PG13 sex shit in that cannot go anywhere because it cannot be part of the overarching story. Infuriating.

I’ve learned to just not play open-word games made >2020. There are exceptions (like Elden Ring), but usually it’s just filled with filler, travel missions, or follow missions.

My favorite relationship quest so far was when you 'marry' the princess in DS3 by completing their marriage ritual of driving her sacred sword through her head. That was a shocking quest line.

DS3 is my favorite FS game.

If they patched BB to be >60-100fps and put it on pc, it might take the spot. BB is only 30 fps. But Sony doesn’t want the easy win, I guess.

Most games as live services kinda suck which makes paying for battle passes and other mtx feel like bullshit.

I spent a lot of money on PoE1. Never felt I wasted it until the end.

If you have to buy into a game, often it feels like they short changed you on that so they can upsell you later xpacs or other features, xp boosts and shit.

Objectively, any money you spend on a game is probably wasted. That said, I feel like I got my money from PoE2 so I never regretted dropping money on it when it entertained me. I was never a whale by any means, but I probably spent ~40-80$ a season that I was active in.

It’s pure business strategy.

Any time a micro transaction is introduced in a game, the game will inherently be designed in a way to incentivize the micro transaction conversion. Single player by saving you time “grinding” or multiplayer by giving you an advantage over other players.

Thank goodness for gaming companies that avoid that nightmare.

I’m overall, I think d4 has been fairly above board. Nothing enhances your abilities or p2w. GGG has always done this extremely well. Ethical MtX from a P2W. Now you could argue that the MtX in general are “unethical” when you pay for the box. Or that it’s gouging.

This gets back to oblivion horse armor. I don’t like it, but I think that’s capitalism. If I’m not mistaken, the recent iteration of Star Wars BF2 took this far enough it impacted the sales of the game or word of mouth. Vote with the wallet.

The entire live service hero shooter genre could get wiped from existence and we'd be far better off.

wtf?

I can't tell if he is trolling or not.. He has to have signed contracts to not shit on the games he announces right? thats just bad business. so, he's serious?

Is it F2P? If it is, then of course it is going to get a ton of people at launch because AAA studio games have just enough polish to make everyone appreciate that it *mostly* just works when you play. Then, some people will stick around because it is a new experience. Apex probably has given them enough clout to have at least a year of runway to get a few battle passes renewed and make some money back before it is truly in any danger of being shelved early.

Me? I want this game to bomb so hard that Keighly has to actually verbally apologize for that tweet.

I think you missed the obvious. he linked John Hammond in Jurassic park... The Park certainly did wow people... "spared no expense".. and then... 48 hours later that guy is dead, having been eaten by a Tyrannosaurus.

Did he do that on purpose?

Haha, how did I miss that when I'm the one who compared the new Direwolves to Jurassic Park as a whole.

But do we think Keighly is that smart or willing to even vaguely bite the hand that feeds him (AAA gaming)?
