5 isn't a powerful earthquake. Feels like people are trying to gin up fear.
Yeah, as a Nevada native, 5s are pussy shit and occur pretty frequently here. People who think 5s mean anything have either never been in an earthquake or live in some shithole where they build shit out of/on sand. It doesn't really get rough until you start creeping close to 6.5+.

Look buddy, we had a 5.8 in the north east in 2011 that still haunts me to this day, but we survived

Video is apparently from a Guatemala earthquake, which I somehow missed happening between the Venezuela one and Colombia one.

So I hate to say it in so many threads, but it's possible this is the "birth pains." I know people will tell me I'm nuts, but I'm okay with that.

Yar, this year has been slightly above average so far. Quake swarms/chains happen as the larger quakes will add energy to other faults as the waves travel through the earth, causing the ones that are close, on their own, to slip soon-ish.

USGS didn't have 2022+ in an easy to reference spreadsheet and I didn't want to go hunting for it. AJ just did it [link] for the past 10 years, then USGS data for older stuff below that.

The 2000 - 2021 USGS.gov spreadsheet was annoying to read, so pasted it into Google Spreadsheets:

6.7 in Peru. The frequency of these big earthquakes is pretty wild.

This is the "food plants are burning down and we'll be out of food in 2 weeks" crisis all over again. Quit letting social media lead you around by the nose.

I'm glad Burns Burns showed the data to prove that people are freaking out because social media is telling them to freak out.
