I lol if those ravens went to gather a children of the Forrest army and they win the Iron throne
Bran was watching WesterosPornHub the whole time. he was useless. his whole story arc only served to bring NK through the wall.

You guys are real salty about the NK. A character we've barely heard about in the written literature the show is based on

Bran is the only real disappointment for me so far. I was expecting some 3ER magic to even the playing field, but as far as we know, he did nothing.

Hopefully we get some explanation of the purpose of the 3ER beyond being "the world's memory".

The killing blow was the same one she used when she sparred with Brienne last year.

I'm sure the book will have more detail and back story, but considering GRRM said the show will have essentially the same ending...I think people need to accept the White Walkers were never going to be the final boss.

He quite literally started the series with them and has left reminders at every turn that the human fighting in the shadow of the new long night is the greatest folly of the story. If they are not his final boss then he has spent two decades focusing on the wrong goddamn story.

Night King confirmed boosted character; died easily in pvp to a low level rogue.

Avengers and this in the past couple days...Has there ever been a bigger week for pop culture culminations, ever? Or anything even close?

As a huge Terminator fan, I got a lot of Terminator vibes from this episode. Glowing eyes, Night King's sudden head-movements and no-selling the fire. He even sorta had a T-1000 walk, with Winterfell instead of the steel mill from the end of T2.

Had a bit in common with Avengers in terms of shot-framing too. And all of the heroes coming together to stand up to overwhelming odds from some blue dude.

The way he murdered Theon was pretty chilling. Actually it was chilling all over the place. I realized how many characters I cared about as it went on. First I realized I really care about Arya and Jamie. Specifically those two. Like "I'm gonna leave the room if something happens to them" level. Next people to come to mind were Tyrion and Brienne. I really expected to lose at least one of them, but HBO backed away from giving the episode teeth. The Hollywood ending was a bit much, too, but I like Arya. Didn't catch Mel telling her how to win either. They really gave it away for people who caught that.

I figured the Night King would be out of the way by the halfway point of the season to leave room for the other big battle...unless he nuked King's Landing to add to his army like I was hoping for. Cersei and Euron are way less compelling to me than the NK/WWs as villains, and IMO that story should have been resolved first. The only positive of doing it this way is that Cersei seems way worse for leaving the North to their doom.

i love idiots talking about this as if the books will ever be finished
i know, GRRM is never going to finish the series, two books will never be enough time to pack all the shit he started into any kind of satisfactory conclusion. but as long as the fat fuck is breathing, its possible.

This is how I feel as well from the prologue of the first book all the way up to the last moments we spend with Jon on the wall - all of this is petty squabbling as death approaches.

I mean the very first scene of the first episode is "there's some creepy magic zombies in this winter wonderland".

GRRM just isn't good at structure. He's just not. If the story seems confused it's because the story IS confused.

Hey, we got the most satisying LARP out of it since The Fellowship trilogy, so i'm not complaining about that. What GRRM is good at is the fine detail work, and there have been some great individual scenes in this show over time.

I liked this episode and i'm not complaining about any of the dumb shit. I do feel like there have been 2 other episodes that did it better though. Hardhome and the one from seasons ago with wildlings attacking castle black? But hey, this episode had its moments. I really liked the exchange between Tyrion and Sansa in the crypt, tbh. It gave those characters some humanity that they've been missing.

I mean it's pretty obvious that Winterfell was a near complete massacre, but yes somehow enough of her forces survived to pose a credible threat to Cersei who still has the Lannister bannermen, the Iron Fleet, and the Golden Company.
It was cool they did the flaming sword charge into darkness and got snuffed out but I am disappointed that is all it was. I loved me some horse Darthraki fighting.
The unsullied retreat stance was well done and effective considering the numbers and what they were fighting. They had multiple flanks and many pulled back but was overwhelmed. Doesn't look like many survive but I assume they use the NK tactic on King's Landing and kill the snake. That or Darios(sp) suddenly appears and he had paid the Golden Company more or something.

That is the real shame of the show overall. All these people left behind or just their story ended with no further involvement.
Is it even 7 Kingdoms in the end with most of them erased now?
