These are face changers, FACE changers as in faceless men. They are not shapeshifters. They have an entire monastery full of faces, not buffalo bill body suits.

That whole scene seemed to be influenced by whatever magic is in the masks as it began to affect Arya. That or the director thought it would be "clever" without any actually explanation. They don't regularly go around wearing 20 masks stacked on top of each other. They've made a very clear point that they get the masks from the faces of the dead.

See above post about blindness scene. What's more likely? Arya is hallucinating as she goes blind/continuity error? Or the faceless men regularly go around wearing a fucking pile of masks on their faces including ones that they don't actually have access to because reasons?

Look, it was obviously better to use a different actress to pose as the old woman than make up the actress who plays the waif to look old. Thats all it was. Stop overthinking it. Gonna quote myself here because I think that we can't ignore the fact that in the blind scene from last season, Jaqen was wearing the Waif's face, which would imply that the Waif is dead and the Faceless Men have her face.
This season however, the Waif wants to kill Arya, so she is obviously alive.
Conclusion: Since the Waif is trying to kill Arya and is therefore not dead, Faceless Men / Jaqen / the Faceless God can take the faces of trainees (Arya and the Waif).

Because the rest of us are not "reading between the lines" and taking the show at value for what it has shown us... we're the mouthbreathers. That wasn't the FM magic that was just TV magic. Duh.
Holy shit I can't believe this is an argument, but here we are. If you want to get technical. The numerous glamours used throughout the series didn't require someone's face to use. So if we theorize that this concept is somewhat consistent in the series then we can accept that their magic lets them become whoever and they collect actual faces for creepy religious reasons.
