That's pretty much the only time we ever do it. If we have family or friends over for maybe a fish fry, it's always outside. I know I posted about doing those squash blossoms the other day, and that was just a shallow fry in the wok, but I still hate having a deal with oil and all that.

I've really been trying to figure out other alternatives to get fried stuff, and our little air fryer seems to be the ticket. It's not even a huge one, and we got it for free from a neighbor, but I'm surprised at what I'm not able to make with it. I'm really tempted to upgrade and get a heavy-duty one, just not really sure what direction to go.

I don't think I want the tray, definitely front door with a couple of racks or something.

Emeril Lagasse Extra Large French Door Air Fryer Toaster Oven Combo, 24 Cooking Functions and Digital Controls, 7 Accessories Included, Stainless Steel Finish, 26QT Capacity

it comes w/ 1 tray i bought another, but tbh, if youre doing it to "fry" the other tray hinders the frying, b/c the way airfryers are supposed to work well is to go up and thru the tray, but if you have another tray in the way, then that just takes the hot air power away.

Sludig Sludig Japanese curry, aka golden curry, is my favorite. You can make it as spicy as you want, but in general it is just a very tasty savory stew. You can make it with any protein.

Sludig Sludig this is pretty much the base recipe I use. It's pretty standard but you can always adjust what other spices you want to add. I like a little bit of ground fennel just because I enjoy it, and even maybe a little bit of cinnamon or allspice. I forget what the blend of the garam masala has, but maybe it has those things in it, it's like an Indian version of Chinese five-spice, but you could also use the five spice too. Adams makes a Chipotle five spice that's out of this world but it's pretty zippy.

I also put green onions and maybe some bell pepper, and you can also make it with pork or even ground beef or diced up chuck roast something. The whole thing is literally just making a flavorful sauce kind of like doing a beef stroganoff or whatever the hell, except you're serving it over rice. Fresh lime at the end is essential along with the cilantro, I'm fresh basil is good too.

Just use what you got, as long as you got the spice rack, it's an easy and cheap one pot meal basically, or I guess two pots if you consider the rice.

Yesterday I made a rotisserie chicken in my air fryer for the first time. Gave it a good spice coating, cooked it for about an hour at 350 (175). Let it rest for an hour once it was cooked. After that, I took all the meat off the carcass and chopped it fine. Mixed it with diced green apple, some craisins, roasted garlic, a very few chunks of walnut, mayo, and a bunch of spices. It's a bloody delicious chicken salad. Brought it to a bbq and it was the first thing gone. It was really good and super easy. Spice up the chicken, it rotates itself in the air fryer, then just spice and go.

I think it's just a roasted chicken. I would be curious whether you can really tell the difference between a rotisserie chicken and a regular roasted one in a blind taste test though.

Only obstacle, my wife is sick and hates cilantro, I love it.

Never cooked my own steak before, but had a filet meal deal at the store this week, my dad sent me 4lbs of crab meat and no one at home left to bitch about me cooking steak or seafood so surf and turf it is.

Garlic butter filet topped with some snow crab drizzled in old bay butter with a hint of lemon, sautéed broccoli with olive oil and lemon and a little garlic butter seasoning and steamed potatoes tossed in an herb butter. The cats got a little plate of surf and turf of their own, too, though they couldn’t figure out what to make of it.

Husband hated the smell of seafood, steak, pork chops, etc. so I couldn’t ever make them unless I snuck it in while he was at work. He could always tell when he got home, though, despite my best efforts.
I can't even. This is worse than all the other things you've said about him put together.

Pretty sure that you could have legally murdered him for that. No jury would ever convict you.

I'm glad you dipped your toe into cooking surf and turf. It's always a wonderful combination when done right. Next time put the potatoes into a little saucepan, butter, chicken stock, parsley, maybe white wine, and just cover the potatoes all sitting on the bottom. Let them cook it medium, they'll steam and also roast, just stir them around occasionally. Much better than just steamed. You'll know when they're done. Simple parsley potatoes is an easy side dish for any protein. I'm make them with fish a lot, specifically trout or salmon. Fresh dill at the end is the good stuff, along with some lemon juice.

Also, your husband is being faggy...😉

Tried my hand tonight at making my own pasta sauce. Didn’t quite turn out like I expected but it was still quite good!

Coated the bottom of my pot in olive oil, added half a stick of butter, 2 cloves of garlic, then half an onion. Let that go for a few minutes then added a pound and a half of these angel sweet tomatoes I found at the store that I sliced in half and then sloppily hand crushed. Added one green bell pepper and then a couple tablespoons of bacon bits. And then finally crumbled in 6 meatballs, added some basil, parsley and oregano, and then let it simmer for an hour.

I was worried it was going to be too chunky but it wasn’t as bad as I thought. I’d honestly considered just switching gears and trying to turn it into a chili, instead. Jesus Christ, though, it didn’t really make that much sauce but the whole damn batch was like 1800 calories or so. Fuuuck.
