Went to watch this last night, I liked the darker tone, especially after the kids' comedy that was Thor L&T.
This movie has extreme contrasts between the corny dance at the end and the animal stuff, which is good in my book. Lots of Toy Story vibes and biblical analogies also.

I personally didn't like the music though. The first GOTG had this dissonance between ultra sci-fi movie and old school music; the ones they chose for this one blended too much.

Overall pretty solid and most likely the last marvel I'll see for a while !

The music difference goes along with Quill getting the Zune that Yondu had with newer music at the end of Vol. 2.

Saw this with the kids. Solid GOTG movie, probably the best MCU since endgame IMO.

Not a fan of the change in music. Not because there was any inherent problem in adding post 80s music but because of their mostly shitty choices. As a more general note to movie music people: there has never been a time when Beastie Boys was a good choice for a movie soundtrack because the fucking Beastie Boys sucked ass.

High Evolutionary was well done.

I think all the talk about how "this is a horror movie" and "its too graphic for kids" sounds like hyperbole based on second hand info or something. There wasnt a dry eye in the theatre when little Rocket
lost his friends
but cmon, this wasnt torture porn or gore. Great, really well done background story for Rocket.

I wouldnt take a 5 year old but I wouldnt take a 5 year old to any MCU movie.

Final credits scene has to be the biggest troll so far from the whole MCU credit scene phenomenon. I laughed, ok fuckers, you got us.

Said it multiple times, there's a bunch of vaginas in this thread, I teared up with Rockets scream. Bradley Cooper nailed that voice over work

Good solid movie.

The reason people are going on about how tough it is to watch is mostly due to people liking animals more than other people these days.

Also it's new and people aren't used to watching cute little creatures get brutalized. We've seen multitudes of people get mutilated and scores of children get scarred for life, but seeing ambulatory otters get auchwitzed is a new flavor of fucked up people aren't used to... yet.

See 40 more movies with cute talking animals getting hurt and eventually you won't care about them either.

Thought this was neat, and you all would like it since some of you simp so hard for her. Not sure why she had to lie about getting in trouble. This completely looks sanctioned.

She has been nerd eye candy for awhile now. Back since her Dr. Who days.

did anyone hear the theory about this movie? Rocket supposedly represents James Gunn, Higher Ev represents Feige. Gunn the set the bar with Guardians1 and Feige tried to copy Gunn's success over and over and failed.

This movie was very, very Gunn. I really enjoyed it and thought it was on par with the 2nd one, which makes it one of the better MCU movies in general and certainly better than what we've mostly been getting from Marvel recently. Do miss Yondu though. Rooker was so good.

720p screener/web rip is out in the usual places.
It's released to rent on various streaming platforms today, so why bother with a 720 when there will be a 1080 and 4k by then end of the day.

Also, it's not a screener, since screeners are DvD copies given to Award judges and various other people. Dad used to know a industry lawyer (I think) that would get them, for some reason, and let us borrow them. Also, one of the pirate groups used to have a hookup with them, so for a while, they were getting released all the time. Now each copy sent out is digitally numbered and tracked, so I doubt we will see many/any leaks in the future.
