Well the thing about conceal carry, at least in my state, is that it means concealed carry, IE if you want to open carry you better make sure where you plan to take the weapon open carry is allowed.

Yeah, that would freak me out. Especially with the Virginia Tech thing happening not far from here and all the other shootings recently. I can't imagine the purpose of walking around campus with an assault rifle, or scary looking rifle, whatever. That is the first thing that would occur to me. But like I said, I was smoking crack and misread what you wrote.
A lot of universities have rifle competition teams on campus. How do they do that in places where it is illegal?
I know I am going to be ridiculed for this, but it basically comes down to whether the gun is brown or black and the type of grip that it has. In a place where most people know little about guns, someone with what appears to be hunting weapons would not raise alarm, but make it look like a military weapon and people are going to be worried.
At least here in NC if you have a CCW permit you aren't supposed to open carry, which depending on the state (ie Florida, one of the better gun law states, does not allow open carry at all) is something anyone can do without a permit. Kind of weird but I guess it makes sense.
