Yea the more I play this the more I'm impressed. A solid sequel for sure despite the eye rolling inserts.

Ended up beating Chronos on what I consider a godrun pretty easily. Then I did olympus and got to the final phase on the final boss the first run I did. Seems I knocked the rust off pretty good.

Only boss up there that seems hard is Prometheus just because he's fast. I'm sure a couple more runs and he'll be nothing though

I totally slept on Cast in this game. Only remember never using it in Hades 1 and oh boy is it different here. And the dumb thing is they beat you over the head trying to tell you to use it. Like “here are these totally useful Boons for Cast, please don’t ignore it!” Or “here are 50 mobs that spawn simultaneously and charge at you, wouldn’t it be great if you had a tool to snare/root them!”

Same here. Now I am begging for a cast that I can aim and stack a ton of Olympian debuffs on.

Observations:

Once again, I plan most builds around getting the correct Daedelus Hammer upgrade....which can screw me.

Aphrodite is my go to start for melee because of the damage.

Neptune's dash is my favorite and getting his doubling boon early is huge.

Zeus seems the weakest by far? Am I missing something?

Zeus is primarily for Special to inflict Blitz plus the boon for it to strike twice, later Duos can pair with scorch and other debuffs to generate themselves. There is also the option to use Zeus/Hera stacking and pop their duo to sac all boons from one to boost the levels to the other.

I liked the Daedalus hammer more in the first game because they felt gamechanging where in this they feel just nice.

Final phase of last boss feels like a wow mythic raid with all the shit on the screen

Zeus is an all-arounder who's not really bad anything.

Building up his chain lightning boons so they bounce around alot along with a fast damaging weapon makes the air quality duo with Hera pretty damn beastly

I have defaulted to the Demeter Epic charm to start every run and I aggressively reroll to try and find the "boons rarify after X encounters" because it may be the best secondary boon. I have gotten it at Heroic twice and boons just pop off after 3 encounters. Bananas.

Got my first Chrono's kill last night. Ended up stacking a bunch of Zeus lightning boons on the Dagger's using mostly the (Y) Special throwing dagger. Chain Lighting, Blitz, Air Quality, Double Strike, Etc.

I love this game so much. The "just one more run" is strong with this one.

Almost got Chronos my first try but couldn’t quite pull it off. Was using Rank V (or IV) Aspect of Melinoe Daggers. Had some pretty good Ice Boon, Cast Boons, all giving +Damage. Wasn’t familiar enough with the fight to do it 1st try though.

I just got two Olympus + a Chronos kill in a row and it was all about forcing the Demeter boon rarity buff. You can get away with the rare one if it is one of your first two rooms.

I put about 10 hours in this during EA first launch. Got another 10-15 into it now since release. Overall enjoyable, beat surface/underworld with all the weapons, but they are also my main gripe. They just aren't doing it for me compared to the original Hades even with the alt options and daedalus upgrades. Will likely never happen, but I'd love to see Hades 1 weapons dropped in the game. The grind feels smoother compared to the original and the game feels better at higher fear levels than it did at high heat levels (less RNG to clear). Worthy sequel.

Bonus tiny Melinoe and some grape drank.

I've usually been looking for the 1000dmg hex since the upgrades where it triggers twice + the additional combo of 3x 500 damage hits on launch does hefty chunk damage.

But did a run now with the summon the last enemy skill. Also got the 30% hex damage skill from the event person in zone 2. Got a skill tree with the skill that makes the summon stay permanently + filled out most of it.

It's busted. The summon mob does so much damage. It's much more powerful than the 1000dmg one. When I got to Typhon I figured I would try summoning the last egg spawn that he throws out. But I did summon one of the small eye things that it throws out before. Its DPS was probably 10fold mine. As it touched either Typhon or the 2nd phase eggs (none of which got to spawn) it was just a spam of 500-600 damage hits. As soon as I summoned it, it just went into the face of Typhon and went brrrrrrrrt with damage numbers. I don't even know what it does, since when I am fighting those eyes, they just seem to fly around and don't do much? I only really got it online on the last zone, and the end screen said I had done 200k damage total over the entire run, while the summon had done like 97k. I think most of it on the Typhon fight. Wouldn't be surprised if it did 2/3rds of the damage on the fight.

Never seen the permanent uptime on the skill tree before, but I know I an picking the summon tree every time from now on. Especially on the overworld.

What’s the summon last enemy one? Still haven’t finished a run but am easily consistent with getting to Chronos, Phoenix or past that in over world.

Night Bloom - summons last slain enemy.

Not sure how to get "bright", might need to have a trinket equipped? The one below is the one I've only seen once.

With the addition of the Circie 30% hex boon it's the most powerful one I've tried. Though only gotten once.

RetaliationBrightYour raised servants gain any 'after you take damage' effects from your Boons.

Okay cool. I’ve only seen Circe once at this point. Trying to make it a point to do more of those rooms.

Finally beat Typhon. Did strength instead of death defiance and just fucked him up.

Got end credits. Did the pet build 3x in a row. Won twice against Typhon and an easy win against Chronos. For the last Typhon fight I looked at the eye damage. Usually you get one number per hit, but against the tongue when Typhon fell down the first time after the Zeus hit, the pet hit so fast it just added to the same number and said 10000 something in a few seconds (pets give green damage numbers) and Typhon got up again (assume him waking up again is based on damage as well as time). Utterly busted skill.

Not sure if you need to do it, but way I did it was
Weapons: Umbral flames - Aspect of Eos rank 5
First zone keepsake: Transcendent embryo (from Chaos)
Second zone: Moon beam (from Selene)

In order to get the "Bright" skill that gives the permanent pets, you might need the moon in the right configuration? I know the half moon gives it.

Beaten chronos and Typhon a few times now. Not sure I want to grind out the true ending. I set my fear to like 5 or 6 just to test it and still one shot chronos.

Fun game but after about 30 hours I got my money's worth and might move on for a bit. Not one to chase higher heat levels.

Finally got my first Typhoon kill. I actually 1-shot him the first time i got to him, which surprised me. It was Prometheus that really hung me up for a long time. I stopped trying to memorize is flame walls and just dashed through the damage. So much easier and safer.

Death Defiance in this game is bad. The card that gives you -40% dmg received with no death defiance and then stacking health is absolutely the way to go.
