Am I missing something with HD2? Missions are fun, but when a friend and I duo something, we get like 3 medals and minimal other currency. I don’t feel like we are making any real progress. Most of the stuff to buy for the ship and upgrades we aren’t getting much progress on, and if we play a lot and stockpile 100 medals over the week we just unlock mostly cosmetics from the free warbond and it takes multiple multiple hundreds of medals to get to the next warbond level. Game is fun, but I really need some progression to feel motivated to keep playing since my game time is so limited these days. Seems like the game is a huge grind for minimal gain, unless it opens wide and progress comes quickly on a higher difficulty? We are on medium right now

You get more medals on harder difficulties and completing a 3 mission operation. Check for your personal order as well, which is essentially a daily quest. You also get a decent chunk of medals with the completion of a Major Order.

The free Helldivers Mobilize warbond has a total of 750 super credits in it. You can farm the remaining 250 you need (750 if you want the Halo warbond), by speed running low level missions and checking all the POIs in each mission. Democratic Detonation is the best warbond to buy first, as it is very versatile and gives you both primary and secondary explosive weapons. Great for rounding out builds and making sure you can close bug holes/fabricators/warp ships.

Play on higher difficulties and you get WAY more rewards.

If you're still unlocking crap, difficulty 7 isn't that bad. You get the benefit of more rewards but it is still completely doable even if you're still unlocking all the base stuff. Recoilless rifle (the shoulder mounted RPG thing with an ammo backpack) is probably one of the most versatile anti-heavy enemies stratagem weapon in the game and you can unlock that one pretty early - a well placed hit will one shot chargers, hulks, or bile titans.

Even the laser cannon that you can unlock early on is useful on higher difficulties. I'll use it pretty much as a primary against the bugs and squids, with my actual primary and secondary being for particular enemies.

If you've got friends to play with, it is totally worth hopping back in basically any time. The game in and of itself is fun, but playing it with a full squad of your boys all on Discord together is top tier.

If you enjoy the gameplay loop, its easy to get back into. They've added a lot more variety to the missions

How hard is this to get back into? Is it even worth it?

This is the best its ever been. Just hop back in on a lower level to get your bearings (7 or 8 with bugs) them venture out from there.

Ive been playing frequently lately if you want to squad up.

I would love to hop back in after this October patch. The Storms in particular were hitting my frames hard.

My game's been constantly crashing on start up right as I'm entering my ship, and sometimes on helldiver insertion. So annoying.

If anyone has issues with the higher difficulties, sometimes it's easier to keep moving and running around than standing your ground and fighting.

Try turning off global illumination. I was crashing like crazy until I turned it off.

They need to work on performance and crashes.

Also cap your FPS - doesn't matter if you pick a cap of 200 or whatever. At some points in the game, especially the post-mission load screens, the game goes bonkers and will make your GPU work overtime for some reason unless you cap the FPS to a # besides "unlimited"
