Heroes of the Storm

This is my first MOBA so I can't really speak to how experience translates but I would guess you are going to have a leg up on most other players.

Biggest differences I've heard are you don't ignore map objectives (you are almost always going to group as 5 and go after them no matter what level)
XP is shared across the team so it is very important to have at least 1 person per lane soaking XP up to level 10 at a minimum
This game is all about team fights and objectives (there are obviously nuances to this, but from a beginner stand point you can work off of this)

Valla is a great starting assassin, very strong right now and very forgiving
LiLi is probably one of the best overall Heroes for new players and is a support
Warriors and Specialists are a little tougher to pick up but as a MOBA vet I doubt you have much trouble

Is probably a better site to see how people are building Heroes and to see how well they are doing with them - Check Hero Details Tab at the top and you can see talent choices, win rates etc.

If you've been playing League for 4 years, you'll easily pick up any champ. The choice are usually obvious. The only tip is that for every map, objectives are king. Group up often. That's good advice as a starter, as you learn the flow of the games you'll pick up different tactics.

Usually I don't like to group up pre-10 unless it's near the lane I picked. It's better to soak xp than group fight for the most part. There are some exceptions though.

Tips for starting heroes, etc are all welcome. I've read back a number of pages in the thread, so have seen discussion about some of the heroes. Note, I didn't buy the Fouder's Pack. My guess is that I'll just be using champions in the free rotation.

Easier to figure out then league.

Learning the talents as you level will take time but is key to learning which builds are good etc.

Don't just sit in lanes, always to go group fights or objectives as priority.

There is no jungle really, just merc camps to help your lanes push but not worth to use for leveling XP.

Balanced teams work best still....1 tank, 1 support 1 heal, 2 dps....YMMV.

This game is unplayable for me in its current state, ability delay on smartcast has me double pumping a lot of crucial burst moments and losing fights. Reminds me of hero engine. Not sure what changed between now and a month ago but it's brutal as fuck.

The last patch brought a performance hit I think, I know the last time I played QM/Hero I was streaming and it caused some idiot moments on Illidan with the lag.

I'm fine with them attempting to reconnect me if there are server issues.

But losing a game because I double-pump abilities on smart cast is just unplayable.

I have no delay in my smart casting. Must be shitty internet somewhere. Maybe I'm Rescorla's alt.

I have read about people having issues with smart cast but I believe the one that was the issue was cast on release. I also use smart cast and haven't seen any issues specific to that.

Here's the thing, smart cast is a modified version of cast on release in this game, an example is when I see the hero attempt to cast.. it puts down the yellow range indicator and then stops the cast if I press the button too quickly a second time. It pump fakes and the ability doesn't go through.

Even if I'm at 1700 ping... smart cast should be smart cast not some instant version of cast on release.

Huge flaw.

Yes, this happens all the time. Drives me crazy.

You can change smart cast behavior in options. Maybe try a different setting.

I'm having a hard time playing this game alot. qm is boring without some kind of ranking or friends.

I'm level 24 I think and my boost ran out. Won't get another one because I'll be away next week. It seems way too slow without it.

Let me know when you get back, I am the same in that I would much rather play even as a duo. Xith (and some others on my friends list) has been playing a lot of D3 and I keep missing Crazily online but if you want to set up specific times or whatever we can do that.

Super bummed, bought that Illidan skin last week (best skin in the game!) since I didn't think it would go on sale lol also bought Stiches with gold last week. Explorer LiLi not too bad though.

Oh I don't have Stiches yet. I've got 11k gold or so. I think I'm saving it for whatever champ I get a master skin with. Right now I've got Azmo on track (level 8) with Abathur at level 7.

He's been banned like all week in EU, I think he's a good pick for a first ban so you can get Stitches or Zeratul, although really there's only maybe 1 or 2 teams with really good Zera players (WANP at the top of that list, Blackscorp also terrifying on Illidan though). With this new sustain meta (EU running 2 tanks 2 heals or 1 heal 1 offsupport like Tass or Tyrande) though Illidan is a lot stronger since he has that crazy sustained at 20 and is the biggest threat to those comps.

I am liking the shakeup in EU so far, Chen and Sonya seeing a lot of play, more than other tanks outside of Stitches I think. Wombos with Falstad etc. Fun stuff.

They love Malfurion I don't really feel the same unless it's on that nightmare 2 healer comp and he gets the silence, then it is just stupid but really effective.

::EDIT:: Pretty sure I just won a key on Khaldor's stream heh, if anyone needs one let me know, I think it's a EU key so keep that in mind.
