After the first meeting where Underwood tells the drunk we'll be in touch they have an aside to where he admits to us he can't abide weaknesses. I was surprised he strung the guy out as long as he did.
He had to string him out as long as possible. The idea was to keep Peter in the game until right before the election so he could put his panic mode plan into action with Matthews stepping down as VP to run as governor in his place due to his overwhelming popularity in the state.

Oh I get it. Putting the guy quietly out of his misery was just a let down for me. I wanted to see some spite I guess? Hard to describe what I was expecting, but this shouldn't be taken as a complaint either I actually enjoy being wrong with shit like this.

fantastic series, came off the rails a sort bit towards the end but righted itself. had no intentions of cranking through the entire season in two days but I did it.

Had taken a break at episode 11, then finished the last couple episodes - intense and awesome. I like that every scene has merit, and is not slow BS like so many of the shows out there now, like walking dead or the like where they spend an hour drawing out boring crap where they could cover it in 10 minutes.

Also, kudos to Netflix for giving the finger to the Hollywood studios and creating their own content, even if its based on a UK show (Those brits are putting out some great stuff lately).

The 13 episodes of the US version roughly approximate only the first three episodes of the four episode first season of the UK version. Yet other than the odd scene here and there, it doesn't really feel dragged out at all.

Even the episode at his reunion had a purpose. It showed his marriage is pretty much a business proposition and if he does have a love of his life, it was the chap from the Academy. That's how it seemed to me anyway and explains why they don't give much of a toot about the other one fucking around whether it's for business or pleasure.

I think they do love each other. They're just both extremely ambitious and know that they need to do things outside the bounds of marriage every once in a while to get ahead. There are so many scenes that show they truly care for each other.

I don't see what they share as love; I see it more as naked ambition. They need each other and yes, because of their time together and their shared desire for power, there is an affection, but either and both are capable and willing to fuck the other over if they think it's in their own best interest. That's no kind of love, but it does make them hells of fun to watch.

I wonder now if the plan is to bring down the president immediately or to take the Democrat nomination from him for the next election.

He says in the first episode he loves her, more then a shark loves blood. He loves her, I just think their definition of it is slightly off base to what many may consider.

Watched the whole thing. Thought it was pretty awesome. The "talking into the camera" thing threw me off at first but it quickly grew on me. A much more interesting way to get a persons internal thoughts rather than "stare at the ceiling and listen to an echo-y voice over."

I hope this model works for Netflix. If they can produce something this high of quality and make money off of it, hopefully it will start changing the way premium television is distributed. It was also very interesting toread about how Netflix used all their user datato determine that their best bet for success was to make a political drama that starred Kevin Spacey and was directed by David Fincher.

Have a few eps to go yet, but loving this so far. The one scene that disappointed me was when Francis was eating out Zoe. His lips were dry when he lifted his head. :p

Finished it. Great show. Looks like a major shit storm coming for Frank. Has Netflix said there will be second season?

They best be. The show is outstanding. I just hope we don't see Francis "take his lumps" and celebrate the little man (Zoe) as we have seen this trope too many times.

The back and forth between Francis and Tusk was amazing.
