They made that 70 year old granny married to the black guy into some heroic sacrifice which was really lame and no one cared about. The teen king got turned into a vegetable. That's pretty much it. Weird looking dr who guy sat in some castle every episode and did nothing, and the blond queen dyked out with some ugly diversity hire. There's a 15 minute recap if you are subscribed to HBO but it's really boring.

I watched 5 minutes of episode 1, season 1, then turned it off. I thought I'd try it again with season 3, and this is the first thing on the fucking screen. Turned it right the fuck off.

If you're going to watch this season, it's probably best to just do a YouTube summary, as season 2 got pretty stupid. I would also wait until this season is over to see if the writers somehow turned their clusterfuck around.

Going from a fading memory of a mediocre show, the main issues of Season 2 stemmed from the fact that the writers tried to make the terrible people girl boss "Queens" of Westeros into less terrible people who act non-sensically or out of character (or one of the worst writing crimes, act with meta knowledge so the story can progress). Especially when in the source material everyone was a shithead, supposedly (which would also be more in line with Martin's writing in ASOIAF).

The episode had a lot of solid action, which was cool. But there was still a bunch of dumb stuff that bugged me (like wearing heavy plate armor on boats). My biggest problems are that it's been two years since the last season, so I can barely remember what's going on or who everyone is. I'm just not emotionally invested in any of it, and I don't really know what the stakes are.

I have given up on complai ni ng about the changes from the book because these shit writers have already made it clear they are gonna shit on the source material

but even then I still love the fact that the last living Targs at the end of this war and who will sit on the throne are characters either a combined 3 minutes of screen time over 3 seasons who were both basically abandoned by the show and completely forgotten

shit they pretended Darron didn’t exist then randomly wrote him back in the most clunky way, can’t wait till they do the same with Rhaenyras only living children all 3 of which don’t exist on the show
