I love that guys videos and have literally already been watching that one since yesterday afternoon.

Went to the Best Buy Outlet near my house today to do some look and see, found a few which line up to his lists. Originally I was thinking we'd go from split sides to French Door, but watching his video and with some commentary I've heard from some family members it looks like we're sticking with side by side.

This is the current front runner : https://www.lowes.com/pd/GE-25-3-Cu-Ft-Side-By-Side-Refrigerator/5001986439

But as we have ample backup fridge/freezer space right now it's not super urgent, so we're giving ourselves some shop around time and going to check a few places/models over the weekend.
Make sure it's not one of those that will shut down your water/ice because of the filter. Saw one that had an RFID chip in the filter so if you used an aftermarket filter it literally refused to work.

i think they all have that now, but by law you can call the mfr and they have to send you a dummy plug for free

Seriously? F all that. I can put a better filter inline before the fridge anyways. About to redo the under sink filter anyways....

AND..... one google search later :

Only drawback is that you can then use generic filters but the fridge will THINK the bypass is installed and say it's unfiltered.

dishwasher died on me again, ever since i moved in here this ge dishwasher has been ass. it was spontaneously working, then i changed the circuit board last year and it's been fine, and last night dead.
i checked the breaker, plugged in a light to the outlet, so i'm sure the circuit board is again kaput, found a used one on ebay for 35bucks, (new goes for 150), i'll see how it goes.

i'll see if i can find time this weekend to take out the circuit board and look at it, maybe just a cap busted.

if you want the cheapest to get into sous vide, i'd at least get a brand name and it's only 20bucks
Anova Culinary Sous Vide Precision Cooker Mini, 850 Watts, Black and Orange, App Enabled, 2024 Model

i've used my regular anova for a while and i guess the bt is cool to turn on and off and to monitor for afar

heres a tip for the mini or any sous vide actually, pour water tempurature appropriate water to start, don't start off w/ cold water, use the hottest setting on your sink it should be 130 to 150 and you won't have to spend time bringing the water to temp

In the past two weeks I've had my garbage disposal stop spinning, my dishwasher UI panel die, and my dryer heating element go out.

I'm becoming entirely too familiar with the inner workings of the fucking appliances in my house.

This is just a post to bitch that appliances are made like shit and not for easy access these days.

I'm currently trying to fix a front load washer that won't drain. Replacing the pressure sensor and the hose going to it didn't work so now I'm waiting for a new pump to arrive. Historically I just throw parts at them until I've spent half the price of a new washer and then I can take it to the dump.
