lol, it was always a joke. The Reddit posts of people buying in a 5.00+ blow my mind. But joke or not, there was some real money made(and lost)

This market is so retarded. All I see is people attributing today's new high to Trump maybe making a deal with China. Except it only fell by about a percent when they were going at it (last weekend?) and recovered almost immediately. So now a new high because... we're returning to the status quo?

I'm not complaining, because I'm making a shit ton of money, but none of it makes sense. The economy is a fucking mess, but looking at the market you'd think we just re-industrialized or something.

If I were Cad levels of rich I wouldn't pay attention. But I'm not quite at the level where the market movement doesn't matter at all.

Maybe if the wife and I get an inheritance my opinion will change.

I still like paying attention even though I don’t trade or do anything, its just fun watching the number go up. I screenshot my Vanguard YTD and send it to the wife with “why the fuck are we still working?” About once a week.

Does she respond with a picture of the jewelry she is wearing and say "That's why"? :)

Something about the idea of not working this early in my life (I'm 43), makes me feel uneasy, even though my portfolio is strong enough to retire reasonably comfortably.

No, she doesn’t really spend money. I think the most expensive piece of jewelry she has is her engagement ring which is a replacement we bought and cost like $5k or something. She won’t wear or buy anything all that expensive.

Mostly she goes “great we have more money, were we running out?”

It's definitely a massive leap.

And there are phases of it, especially starting out. It'll feel weird knowing everyone else is going to work and you're going to wonder what to do with yourself. Eventually you start adjusting after a year or so.

I'm 4 years in (this week) and I can't even imagine working again. I just kind of do whatever and the idea of being beholden to someone else's schedule sounds retarded. I still keep some stuff scheduled, like I workout 6 times a week and generally do it the same time of day. I try to play drums for about an hour daily (and I do drum lessons every other week). Usually I'll watch some TV with the wife between 6 and 9pm. Walk the dogs once a day.

I don't even know how you worker bees get up early, commute, go to meetings, and all that other retarded shit. I mean, I know I used to do it too, but it honestly just seems so foreign to me. Knowing what I know now, if I did for some reason go back to work, my tolerance for all that would be so low that I'd either get fired or quit pretty quickly I think.

Oh wait, I was wrong. That's my wife who does that.

Yea, I could retire but at the same time it's just a weird feeling. I think thats the main reason I'm 100% checked out at work. I secretly keep hoping they'll fire me.

I've basically ridden the MSTR train to Valhalla as the rest of you talk about retirement.

And there's nowhere really to go, bc I don't want to sell at the bottom.
