When the agent of the writer for the first book was negotiating the rights to the film adaptation he included that David Morrell would have dibs on all book adaptions of sequel films. Rambo dies in the novel (spoilers) but the agent asked for it anyway. Morrell stopped after Rambo 3 but I like to think he got an email from his agent that the prequel is getting made and he can write the novellization for it.

I think I've posted this somewhere on these forums before or maybe it was during the ReRolled fuckery... Anyway...

I know Julie Benz in real life. The then wife and I would have lunches with her over the course of 10+ years. Met her at a comic con in Salt Lake City she was sitting alone, no one in her line. She looked bored out of her mind. The then wife recognized her from Buffy but I recognized her from Saw, Dexter and Rambo. While the wife was getting her autograph I asked Julie about her role in Rambo. Specifically the scene where she walks out of the hut with the kids are getting aid and the hut behind her explodes and the village is attacked. I asked her about that specific scene immediately when that hut explodes. The look on her face in the movie looks like genuine horror. I asked her if she acting or genuinely scared.

This tiny woman says " oh my god, let me tell you I've never been so fucking scared in my life. The only direction I got from Stallone was; " if your hair catches on fire run to those two guys over there" and that's all he gave me."

She goes on to explain the scene and how she ran directly to those guys anyway and started crying when they caught her. We chatted with her for nearly 2 hours. No one else came up to her table. She told us her shift was over and if we would like to go to lunch. So, we ended up having lunch with her and talked with her about all sorts of things from movies to projects she's working on to her personal life.

She asked for our numbers after the meal and we went our separate ways. For nearly 10 years now when Julie is in town she calls to have lunch or dinner depending on what time she gets in. She's a very nice, very short, very mouthy woman. Lol

TL;DR: I know Julie Benz in real life and have for over 10 years.

For her role she played it perfectly. The nod at the end to Rambo letting him know he was right was the best.

Agreed, I loved her back in that timeframe. Not saying I don't love her now, but I don't know anything she's been in recently.

I've always thought she was gorgeous, particularly her face, and that scene in Dexter where she's all sexed up was fucking phenomenal. Not gonna lie, it makes her even hotter to know that she's mouthy but still nice.

I definitely would have gone up to her if I saw her sitting all alone and bored at a convention, just because I like her. Without a female wingman I'm sure it would have been a brief conversation, but I for sure would have taken the time to at least meet her. That's awesome that you got to know her.

She's very friendly, I figured at first it was just an act because she was working when we met. Over the years I've learned that she's usually "bubbly" and sweet but yes, her mouth would make military veterans proud.

Man I loved the Rambo series, even with the cheeze wizz unrealistic stuff it was so much fun. I wish they would have stopped at Rambo and not done last blood. Wasnt really a need for that one.

This could be a great movie. I hope its good. They could honestly do something more realistic and still make it amazing. Have John do, say what Roy Benavidez did and that would translate to the screen well

Rambo 2008 is still the most deaths on screen in a movie. He had to edit it down because they were going to NC-17 it for violence.

The 50 cal scene specifically had to be edited twice to get passed as R.

And the ratings board overall made him reduce the number of on-screen deaths after they decided it was violence well beyond an R rating due to sheer number of people killed on screen.
