I've never seen anything like that before, the media trying to hurt a freaking movie's sales. Was completely bizarre. Didn't have much effect, I don't think. But I do know people who have a bad opinion of the movie because of the media and won't watch it. thats the inevitable choice, her first album is pretty solid. she has a half dozen good songs on there. bands are lucky to have 3 or 4 solid hits in a single album. i think she has a few good songs after that. 17 is pushing it. that said, if she was in Vegas doing only her good songs, id go see her sing them.

Katy Perry's contract is for $168 million. 5 million per show. Pretty solid dosh for someone who hasn't had a hit album in almost 10 years.

i assume all these rich people have people tell them every day how awesome they are. to the point where they believe that their awesomeness is so awesome that they can do anything. maybe thats how we get the greatest basketball player of all time to believe that he can now play baseball and be just as awesome. a supermodel thinks posing for pictures means she can act, a porn star thinks she would be a great country singer or a one time mega star pop singer is now a great actress and politician. wouldnt surprise if me Gaga runs for office at some point. i hope not, cuz she's really laughably bad at it.

Digital distribution is the only reason she wasn't disappeared after her 3rd album.

A major label like Interscope would have already pulled all her budget after the 2nd album performance. Other artists that have a diamond first album shared that fate.
