People are saying that it was confirmed that he was some type of Raptor trainer. Whether that scene with him on the motorcycle was suppose to show him and the raptors acting as a team, or whether the raptors were so scared of this hybrid predator that they were ignoring Pratt to get the fuck out of dodge is still being debated.

The creature in the lagoon is indeed a Mosasaur (albeit stupid large) and not a dinosaur (marine reptiles and pterosaurs were not dinosaurs by definition). I thought it looked great up until RAPTOR ASSAULT COMBAT TEAM GO GO! I will see it anyhow as I am a huge paleontology nerd. Considering some of the original scripts had like laser beam military trained dinosaurs as the bad guy, I will take their snake/raptor/trex/cuttlefish hybrid that the design docs said they are going for. I just hope they don't try to do the same thing like they did with the Spinosaurus and have it fight and kill a Rex just to show how badass it is.

That fight was retarded, and if it happened like it did in the movie, the Rex won that fight in the first five seconds. T-Rex teeth are serrated and if it got its jaws around the relatively thin Spinosaurus neck, it wasn't coming back off without ripping out its throat at the least. Also, the entire strength of a Rex is its head musculature (obviously). The Rex would have crushed the backbone and/or windpipe of the Spinosaurus and that shit was done. Otoh, Spinosaurus teeth were not serrated to hold onto the T-Rex's neck, and it has no where near the strength in its jaws to snap the neck of such a heavily muscled creature like a T-Rex. Spinosaurus was not built to be an alpha predator in the sense it was depicted, it was an extremely large specialist dinosaur that while physically large than a Rex, was no where near as heavily built. /dinosaurnerdrantoff

Also, as I have been following this story for a while, the premise here, is it is 20 years later (which it pretty much is in real life since JP1), the park was eventually reclaimed/rebuilt. They have released a photo of a statue dedicating the new park to John Hammond (dead in both real life and the movie). Chris Pine trained raptors, which is a fairly feasible concept due to their intelligence, however they are still obviously using Utahraptor sized dinosaurs, and calling them Velociraptors (and not giving them any feathers....). Calling it 6 months early, they lure the super dino near the lagoon, the Mosasaur kills it, movie ends.

Edits cause I loveJurassicPark: The third movie was Isla Sorna not Isla Nublar which is JP 1 and JP 4, thus no Spinosaurus anywhere. While they did deviate heavily in Lost World from the book (events from book 1 made it to movie 2 for some reason), they could pull the scene from the end of the first book where they firebomb the island to kill all the escaped dinosaurs to try and reclaim it, then use that as a premise for rebuilding the park. I believe foreign investment is supposed to be the reason they rebuilt it, cause corporate profits >>> people's lives yo.

Also from wikipedia:

In an interview with Empire, Trevorrow confirmed that the production had hired Legacy Effects (formerly Stan Winston Studios) to create animatronic dinosaurs for the film, as they had in the previous three films.[127] Visual effects supervisor Phil Tippett and Industrial Light and Magic are also set to return

The river chapters in the first book were excellent; the Rex poking his head through the canopies trying to get to their boat - looks like they could potentially be setting this scene up with the people in the boats. Same with how Crichton described the people staying upwind of the Rex while searching his nest so that he wouldn't be able to smell them. Tying in Chaos Theory to the entire story as well. Books > *, rip Crichton. Didn't they also find an entire subterranean structure that the Raptors were living + breeding in?

I think that trailer looks awesome. I wouldn't say it looks good, but certainly entertaining. Hybrid dino seems pretty dumb, but this can't possibly be worse than the 3rd movie, which I think is one of the worst films I've ever seen.

I don't understand why a hybrid would be all that dangerous or interesting. They take huge penalties to xp, and are basically weaker than all pure classes.

Gonna go see this for sure, but I have a feeling it's gonna be mostly garbage. The trailer looks both cool and silly at the same time.

Really? Cause I thought the third was at least funny, which the second wasn't.

The first movie had some good aspects with the book, but things that where interesting chriton-sci with why the triceratops is sick etc. The pipe in the trex pit in the movie is just a place to clean your face while in the book it's a action point.

The beach intro in the 2nd movie was the intro to the 1st book, the jeep scene with the raptors in the 2nd movie was also the first book.

But I think they new one looks interesting, I think the hook is genetic research, the dinos in the park are all geneticly altered to be domesticated and trained to be show animals, while this hybrid is some "you don't own me!" thing that starts all sorts of people eating and maybe it even can like telepath talk to the domestic dinos to rebel and take back their island!

you guys forget the hybrid dinosaurs was already done in the first movie. they mixed frog DNA with the extracted dino DNA causing them all to be born female.

That trailer looks like a giant pile of brontosaurus shit. The acting and hints at the plot are absolutely B-movie level looking. The CGI/dinos are on the cheap side, and the waterborne monstrosity and the concept of the genetic mutant freak dino are totally facepalm bad. This thing is going to be a travesty.

A while ago, the director leaked a picture ofa statue of Hammond, which would seem to indicate that the first move plays a part in this world.
Pretty sure I heard somewhere that some big company bought up all the rights to the park and it's technology and has reopened it. So yeah the first movies still happened. They've got a site up for the new imaginary company.

As for the trailer, the CGI looked pretty iffy and plasticy. Eager to see the next trailer when they've worked on that a bit.

Hopefully he's not a Ranger. Movie will be like 15 minutes long.

Yeah, this doesn't look good at all. Severely disappointed, but they really should've stopped after the first one.
