oops I think I must have hit some control keys or something above.
Anyway I will probably swap out the switches for something tactile, but these keycaps are not bad, will likely keep them. Totally was not expecting shine thru keys.
One downside is the F and J don't have the little homing bump on them. Kind of miss that. My cheap ass amazon the J one is almost worn off.
BTW the reason I thought the cable was usb-c to usb-c is because I looked up an ebay listing and the cable in the pictures was just that. So I ordered one from amazon earlier, oops.

I tried some coding and the default layout just doesn't even have any of the -_=+{}[]`~ type stuff you need for coding.
Flashed it with this, only 2 layers:
The recycle thing on the backspace cycles through all the RGB animations. I'll eventually change those.
The arrow key funcs are up and down on the RGB brightness, and the bike slows down the animation and the motorcycle speeds it up.
Will my demented elderly brain be able to memorize this? I shall find out in the next few days, for tonight it is almost time to watch boys with bowlcuts murder each other in a videogame awhilst beautiful maidens cheer them on from the audience.
I may end up needing a function key on the left side of the spacebar (that upright arrow is my func). () are easy to hit but you have to move far off home row.

Well it has been a few days. I've not done much typing, but I am definitely changing the layout. Shift is painful to hit with it this way.
My switch sample pack arrived. It has twenty varieties. I think I like the kailh bronze the most. They are clicky style, but not too obnoxious.

Bought one in 2023 , still plugging along. You can turn RGB off. No program you have to run all the time , pop it on to program buttons and turn it off if you wish. Pretty inexpensive. Thinking about getting another one since they are only $30 now, wow.
EDIT: Bought me and my wife one. They are no-brainers at $30. Also it's Amazon , don't like it send it back.

I tried a Kailh speed silver. It was very quiet!. I think I am one of the wierdo clicky enjoyers though. My last mechanical that fell apart had browns.
I'm still kind of deciding if I can even use this thing before I blow 30 dollars on switches.
I'm trying a 3 layer approach with the layer buttons around the spacebar and the opposite hand on a numpad style arrangement. I stole some code to force numlock on but it isn't working yet.
I turned off all the swirly spazzy rgb and just have the keys color coded now, and when I hold the L1 / L2 buttons it changes to light up numpad or f keys or whateva. Still a few bugs with it but qmk is really nice. Nice that it uses C, my usual language.
My latest map is focused around programmery stuff being right on home row or in the corners where they are easy to hit. It needs some more work.

I like Red Dragon's stuff. I'm actually using their Deathadder ripoff now. I tried ordering their G502 ripoff from Amazon a while back and after what were clearly 3 "returns/refurbished" models, I just said fuck it and sent them all back.
Does Amazon still have this issue with Red Dragon shit?

Well they both came today , next day so means they were sitting on a shelf in North Las Vegas. I have them charging now to make sure they work as intended. I have one of their keyboards as well. I personally have not had an issue with them.

I don't doubt they work. But all 3 of the mice I received were clearly used somewhat heavily, because the FCC logos on the bottom were pretty scuffed up. There's 0 chance I'm using some weebs mouse that they've run their jizz hands all over.

We've bought some of their stuff and mostly like them considering the prices and alternatives, but it's a bit of a crapshoot. I had one of their top end keyboards come with super-obvious water damage to the keyboard and interior packaging. I would normally blame that on Amazon, but the exterior box/sleeve thing was perfect. Someone almost certainly got a damaged return, looked at it and went "eh fuck it, it's fine" and slapped a new outer box on an obviously fucked product.
