Valve is generally not hated, and in some cases loved. Blizzard used to be that way, and even after the Activision bullshit, it's still about a 50/50 split between love and hate. Activision is actually looking like the less-cruel master compared to EA lately, which is really saying something.

Rockstar is only hated if you have to fucking work there.

EA represents everything that is wrong with being overly commercialized, and not just from a gaming point of view, but just how a business is ran in general.

To be fair, there was a period when the poll was vote bombed by religious nuts that are all pissed off that you can have homosexual relationships in EA's games. Those kinds legitimately think that makes EA worse than companies that lie, cheat, steal, and/or murder.

Source on this?
Other than EA's accusation, the consumerist said that none of the votes they got mentioned it.

The sheer volume of votes for ea was pretty massive on it's own.

There was absolutely some organized vote bombing via SA and /b/ that I've seen - not seen the homophobic angle but I don't follow vote bombing nonsense much.

SimCity5 is all Maxis' fault really.
Wasn't EA actually doing some damage control that was reducing sales at some point? I can't remember exactly but I thought they issued a statement/order/something asking retailers to stop selling the game... or something like that that would actually hurt sales until they felt the game was ready to be sold again.

Not that they would do that because they love to please their consumers or anything -they probably had people figuring numbers somewhere that showed better numbers in the future, somewhere - but they did not actually go full retard on cash-grabbing for a while. Now that's not completely evil in my book.

All I see in this thread is a bunch of angry idiots who seem to think that anyone who doesn't share their views is a disgusting worthless pile of flesh sorta like the South Park episode with the smug plague, sniffing their own farts etc.

Do I care about a few animals dying to oil spills? Nope. Do I even know what Monsanto(sp?) is? Nope. Do I use Bank of America as my bank? Yep.

Didn't they only try to do "damage control" after everyone started trying to get their money back and Amazon pulled the game and refunded a bunch of people and meanwhile the internet can't stop going on about how shit the game is?

Maxis is EA. They don't just publish Maxis' games. Maxis is actually located inside the bowels of EA itself. They're one and the same.

I long for the day when the stock plummets and some Chinese company buys them, fires all the employees, and whores out the IPs like a bitch. Karmic justice would never be sweeter.

All I see is some people that really need to see outside of "video games".

Amazon never really pulled the game, it just wasn't available to purchase for a bit when it flipped from the digital limited edition to the standard.

It also has been number 1 on Amazon ever since until some deals this week.

Maxis said they made the game, got no forced design guidance from EA, taking full responsibility for the region-based play that ultimately requires being online to play.

Monsanto bought legal immunity from prosecution from the American government. They are above the law. Specifically in any future court cases regarding the health effects of GMO foods. The same food they earlier bribed the American government into not requiring labeling for food products. GMO foods are now in almost all the food in supermarkets and we don't know which things don't have it. AND if they somehow fuck up with GMO foods and poison us we can't prosecute them.

Monsanto is Satan.

EA had nothing to do with this, nor would they ever do it. Amazon took the game off their site and wouldn't let folks buy it for a time (not sure if that is still in effect) because of all the customer service issues that arose out of it. EA's crowd control was giving those that purchased the game a free game from their origin service, which sounded fantastic at first until you found out they chose a list of about 3-4 old/shitty games no one gives a fuck all about.

Completely and 100% incorrect.

You couldn't purchase the hard copies or the digital downloads. They were not puting the game back up for sale until EA figured out their shit. And I am not sure where all this Maxis took responsibility for it crap is coming from. There hasn't been a Maxis since the late 90's. It's EA with a rebrand and this is their latest coy attempt at deflecting their own retardation. Nothing more, nothing less. Which is why they most definitely deserved their honored award two years running.

What's really fucked up is that EA makes developers pay them for the honor of using the code 00010001 and everything in between. They get paid jack shit and if they go against them they get crushed. I don't even know when I'm buying an EA game. That's why I voted for EA. Oh wait... wrong company.

Meh, maybe not the absolute worst company in America, but they certainly like to deep dick their customers. However, their customers are the people that keep buying the games so who's the one to blame?

Thinking about EA Mythic and RIP Bullfrog right now. Think Bank of America wins though. Not sure who sucks more to work for. BoA *seems* legit.

EA hate is overblown. Bandwagon faggotry r us. Don't buy it if you don't like their previous products. My only regret to date is SimCity, but I barely buy any of their stuff. If you haven't bought their shit, why do you care? If you have, stop.
