Yea, I can understand that opinion, but I'm always surprised at what a team does when hai is shotcalling. Maybe moon just needed better direction and he'll suddenly be fine. I mean, meteos isn't exactly the best mechanical player either. He's good, of course, but it was their unorthodox strategies that really made original c9 shine. But, there was a reason they replaced Meteos when they got Rush.
That said, balls was always their weak point, and altec is no sneaky. I don't think they will finish top 3, but 4th-6th would be impressive with that roster. I'll be rooting for them, at least.
I disagree with some of the power rankings I saw so far. I think people are over-estimating how much TSM lost by swapping turtle in for doublelift. Turtle has good mechanics, he's not a scrub. He was often the KDA leader on immortals through both splits. The rest of TSM still has great synergy, especially sven and bjerg, and biofrost is a god mechanically. So, that's an upgrade for turtle from adrian (who always seemed to be a smart/crafty type player). They are still gonna wreck NA, and lose internationally of course.
So, just for fun, this would be my guess on power rankings, with a big cop out by grouping teams.
1-3) TSM, C9, CLG
I think Contractz will be a breath of fresh air and looking to prove himself, and with 4 vets around him he'll settle in well. Plus, impact and jensen are still amazing.
CLG is CLG, they are gonna be competitive with the same roster. TSM, I went over above, but I think turtle is barely a downgrade as far as how their team operates and they crushed it last split.
4-7) DIG, IMT, P1, TL
I'm a little less confident as I go down the rankings. All of these teams have great talent on paper, just depends on how they work together. For DIG, I think LOD has been held back. He is very good mechanically, but it'll be interesting to see if xpecial can still hang. Their top/jungle is their strong point, obviously, so if they can do an IMT huni/reignover style to carry early, with LOD cleaning up like wildturtle, they could do well.
8-10) EF, EV, FQ
All of these teams look like they would have been a top 5 team a few splits ago, but the level of talent rose quite a bit this off season. So, in comparison these are the weaker looking teams. I wouldn't be at all surprised if one of them defies expectations and ends up a top3 team somehow, though. I'm expecting at least a couple of the teams above them to crash and burn, so a few of these will naturally place higher, I just have no idea which ones.
