finished defiance of the fall 16, can't wait for 17. Loved it the whole way through. the only negative is all the cultivating pages but if you're adept at proper skimming it's pretty easily gotten through.

started primal hunter this afternoon based on tuco's list
It just had a book and a half lull for me but I'm back into book 8 and enjoying it again. I skim the cultivation stuff.

This one is excellent. Void Herald has a number of very solid fictions. Vanquer the dragon being his most well known. I have not read Gunsoul but I will eventually. Thoroughly loving this one.

The Perfect Run was his best series by far, loved it.

I not only read the cultivation parts in detail multiple times, but also started my cultivation journey built on what Defiance of the Fall lays out. As Zac goes through developing his core, I do the same thing. I think I am starting to see some noticeable improvements to my Dao, but it might be all the tylenol I'm eating too.

speaking of, i'm on book 6 or 7 of primal hunter and like it just as much. I think i'd put all of them with dcc in s-tier for the genre.

After reading the Chrysalis (dude is an ant) series, which I really enjoyed, I picked up his other series about a necromancer (Book of the Dead maybe?). Definitely way different in tone.

I liked it a lot less, because the necro main guy is a) a magical prodigy autist who is perfect at everything he does (including casting two rituals at once, which is akin to reciting two paragraphs at a time, alternating one word from each paragraph, on the fly), and b) the typical unlikable main character that is abrasive and people are icky etc. that too many authors seem to love lately.

Still maybe worth reading, but after the "fun" of the ant series, this one was kind of a bummer and I'm not dying to read more. I appreciate the tone of the ant series much more after reading this at least.

Almost done with the latest 1% Lifesteal on KU, and I still like it but it is tapering off a bit for me. Hopefully the next book picks up a little.

Is it possible to get a pinned list of recommended LitRPGs to check out for this thread?

I've recently discovered this genre of book, audiobook, I listen at work. I'm finished with Dungeon Crawler Carl till the next release and finished Book 12 of He Who Fights With Monsters. I NEED more.

That's a good suggestion. Maybe a poll thread with most of the popular titles and everyone can vote on multiple, changing their vote over time.

Eh, you'd probably be better off just googling a random top litrpg list.

is as good as any.

But really, once you read a few of the recognized top series, stating what you like and asking for recommendations will probably provide better results than going through a list.

I'm sure you all already know but if you like the more violent and brutal side of LitRPG. I just started Kaiju: Battlefield Surgeon. It's really good so far.

Same guys that did Dungeon Crawler Carl.

The synopsis of the first fictional book reminds me of my thought process when i finish a series and look for a new book. This meme pokes fun of that process:

I sometimes try to read a critically acclaimed book instead of yet another sci fi or fantasy or litrpg book, but some of those books tell a story that just doesn't need to be told. Theo of Golden sounds like it fits in that category, lol.

Worth the Candle is suitable for Netflix, it's already gay enough without them having to make any drastic changes to it.

Horror elements aside it was interesting concept while memorable it wasn’t my thing.

Taking a break from defiance series to try Primal. So far it is very basic but intros are intros.

Primal Hunter is one on my list. I'm teetering on checking out The Wandering Inn. 60+ hours of audio per book, world building... I don't know though.
