The last book had too much action, dialog, character development and plot. I wish they replaced more of that with navel gazing cultivation. When is Zac going to start on the 17 sutric wonders of pancreas strengthening?

Ok, I'm done reading the Defiance of the fall series, I didn't finish it, I'm just done. Book 8 was painful and book 13 made me finally bow out. The amount of daoist and other cultivation bullshit in this series was way over the top. I'm amazed I lasted as long as I did. I probably should have dropped it in book 8 when got really bad. Anyhow, now to read the new DCC and find a new series.
I still remember when he launched the story on RR, then apologized because "I will probably switch from system to cultivation, because."

I just finished Defiance of the Fall book 16 and went to Royal Road and chapter 1336 makes no sense. Am I missing something here?

DoTF is definitely worse the Primal Hunter and both of them are worse than Path of Ascension. DoTF seems like it will never finish, he has so many plot threads waiting to be followed and he just keeps introducing new ones.

Edit: I guess he's just a terrible writer who did a timeskip into a random fight and it isn't until halfway through the chapter it's made clear that this is indeed the correct place to be

On Book 11 of Primal Hunter... The stat whoring is beyond tiresome. I don't need an entire chapter dedicated to stat rambling. Obviously hyperbolic but it seems that way. I do, however, skip maybe 3 minutes to get past the stat reading. It's literally just useless filler. I'm ready to move on and listen to some other series.

The entire series of The Apocalypse Tamer was on sale not long ago and got the whole series for like $3. So, I may try that one after book 11 of PH.

I've read that series, but even after reading the descriptions I can't remember a fucking thing about it. The premise sounds familiar but specifics are just gone. So I looked at my ratings on Goodreads and it seems I gave the first three books a 2 star and the final book a 3 star. So in theory I wasn't thrilled with it, but it got better towards the end, and I cared enough to finish it. For whatever that's worth!

Someone remember me in spoilers something that would stand out? Like, I can't even remember who the main character was, or what he tamed, etc. Could be age, could be meh book. whynotboth.jpg

Jake Thane is his name. Arcane Archer. Doesn't tame anything but does create some unique lifeforms; such as the hawk he helped create and raise...and create I mean ritual circle. He doesn't fuck a hawk.

i'm in book 11 right now too. i tone out when it's a stat dump. i assume the book just has an old D&D style stats page that you would quickly skip over. it's a much more chill series than DCC and I can enjoy w/o having to pay super attention to.
