It's got ups and downs. The bad guy being a stereotype doesn't help. I'd say the first book is a good representation of the series. There are good things and stupid things. I liked it enough to finish it but i almost stopped several times.

Mage Tank book 5 is like a primer in how to handle the administrative shit every hero eventually has to deal with. I know this series is no where near finished but it does raise the question, has any series like this had an actual ending that was satisfying and felt like a sensible place to end things? I think I've only read one that had an end point and it was shit.

Ending a LitRPG seems to be a weak point to be sure. The ones I've experienced came suddenly and often use time skips to get to where they envisioned the series ending.

Everyone Loves Large Chests was like this. Unbound too, to a point. Blue Core was the most satisfying ending to a LitRPG I've read so far, but even it was a bit sudden.

It started well enough but over time it became distasteful, the interactions with the characters that accompany the main character are often long and tiresome and left much to be desired. At one point he gets raped by a living house, which is also a woman/companion and then the author decided to delve into the trauma of that experience and the reactions to it and that's when I gave up on it completely. Also worth noting is that the entire world exists to let Joon play out his pen and paper fantasy life within it because some god was really into his game nights on Earth with his boring friends for some reason, which is a topic that comes up way more often than it should.
