Tarantino didn't understand Superman. that speech in Kill Bill. was completely backwards.
He claimed Superman was who he really is, and Clark Kent is the secret identity. And a reflection of how he sees us.
this is wrong.

Kal-El is from Krypton.
Superman is from Kansas.

one man can make a difference, if he is the right man.
Any man at the right time, and at the right place is Super.

They may be going a hancock esque route with this one. Superman gets framed and "does time" due to public outcry, followed immediately by saving the world ofc.

The robbing the bank, and being hassled by the police^.

It's interesting both scenes are MUCH brighter in the trailer. (even with the poor camera quality, loss)

I have a real problem with the trailers and marketing. Music is all wrong. I'm more then a little worried Synder here doesn't get Superman, as Singer didn't. The tone here is ALL wrong. Superman is not grim, angsty, or troubled.

If they were pulling a Wizard of Oz though. that would be AMAZING. Grimdark trailers, marketing. opening. exploding into full color.

I wouldn't really agree with that, at least not recently. The most recent superman cartoons (tv's and movies) have depicted Superman as incredibly grim. Even in movies where they still make him a cheesey boyscout, such as Superman vs. the Elite, he's grim as fuck. Of the graphic novels that I've read recently, that seems to be the theme as well.

I am fine with them trying something different, and if it doesn't work out so be it its not like they wont keep trying with something as big as Superman.

To be fair they have not done a Superman origin movie since 1978. The best thing they could do for this movie was not take the lazy way out and cast Lex Luthor as the main villain. Far as I know he is not even in this so it has a chance. Zod + Faora vs Superman has potential for some great action. Some of the pictures floating around the internet confirm that shit gets destroyed.

I don't think we are going to see 2 hours of Superman lifting heavy shit.
