Forgot if I brought it up before, but my uncle and his wife were 6 months from retiring and moving down to a house they bought in Florida. For every divorce horror story in this thread I would bet there is an opposing non-horror story. Just because those who speak up the most in a thread like this tend to have had bad experiences doesn’t mean that only bad experiences result from marriage.

Finding the right partner doesn’t have to mean soul mates or “the one” or any fairytale bullshit like that. It means knowing yourself well, being patient and being lucky enough to find someone that over time you can reasonably trust to have goals and values that match your own. It’s not romantic - it’s calculated. But that doesn’t mean it can’t have many fulfilling elements of attraction, romance, friendship, intimacy etc.
