Yea he is not in Hawkeye shape. He is doing OKAY in Mayor in Kingston but he is really obviously limited.

1) If Hawkeye had a Season 2, Renner would have been limited to a mentor role, both because Kate is now the lead and because Renner is still physically limited - why would you pay a supporting actor lead actor rates?

2) There's definitely some severe penny-pinching going on at D+. Think about it, the only unaired Marvel shows were announced, if not actually filmed, years ago - Ironheart, Wonder Man, Zombies cartoon, Wakanda cartoon. Hell, that's not just Marvel - Star Wars only has more cartoons that were also started years ago and the relatively cheap cast of the (final) second season of Ahsoka. (I can't imagine why anyone would pay for D+ if it wasn't baked into another service you have.)

Is it 'disrespectful'? Sure. But it makes perfect business sense.

My "ackchually" capacitors started charging up but then I realized you probably meant the sentence you started your post with and not that first picture of Renner.

As far as paying Renner, I don't give a fuck about his stunts (which have always looked kinda shitty in the MCU through no fault of his own), I care about his wit, charm, and delivery which afaik aren't things that were crushed by the snow plow. His salary would probably still be insignificant against the overall budget of the show, he's still the fucking namesake of the goddamn show even if he's passing the mantle on to Kate, and the first season of Hawkeye was literally the only good show out of the entire first batch of D+ shows. Haven't really heard anything good about any of the subsequent shows either.

If Hawkeye wasn't profitable despite being so much better than the other shows then they should just shut down the whole fucking TV division.

Yeah, that article's been making the rounds on Youtube.

Personally, I can't see it as anything other than preemptive PR establishing that Disney (the huge giant corporation) is the villain, not Feige and his people, when they kill all the Marvel TV shows (other than maybe vigilante budget shows) and probably reboot the universe with mostly new cheaper cast members post-Secret Wars.

Am the only one who's not really excited at all for this new avengers movie? I can't imagine that's the case.

I don't know anything about the goddamn comics, other than through osmosis, let alone really care, but it just seems that trying to get back on track to make a bunch of money because the last phase of stuff but I never watched failed so miserably. Hey might as well just bring back everybody that made the original stuff pretty entertaining in the hope that this will right the ship for smooth sailing.

Yeah pretty much. I mean I'm not a huge marvel person but I've enjoyed some of the shows and I will say the infinity war stuff was pretty good other than girls get it done, I can appreciate them bringing so many different arcs and characters into a couple of films and weaving everything together to make it a fun popcorn experience. Logistically that's pretty amazing from a production / project standpoint.

I haven't watched anything out of this new stuff other than maybe a Spider-Man film and that crappy Doctor strange 2 movie. None of the goddamn shows. I have no earthly idea what the story for this thing is supposed to be and whether it's supposed to be an Infinity war type movie maybe?

I'd honestly be happier seeing another Robert Pattinson Batman movie. How old is iron Man now. If he's supposed to play Dr Doom he doesn't even have the physique, unless maybe they CGI him in his armor, I don't know. I also don't really care for what will probably be snarky witty Dr Doom.

That's entertaining Ivory watched a handful of the films over the years when I just want something fun.

Yeah I rewatched the new Batman movie last weekend because it was raining out, and I'm still surprised at how much I really enjoyed it. I watched the whole penguin series and thought it was really good, and honestly hoped that they were going to do more stuff with Matt Reeves or whatever his name is. It's definitely a grounded and fresh approach to the whole franchise, and had me wanting to see more, which is kind of a rare occurrence nowadays with general film.

Ill go further - I am not at all excited for Doomsday. And I think that Infinity War and Endgame was the near perfect culmination of the greatest Cinematic undertaking of my 41 years of life.

30 something movies, 8 or more franchises, dozens of High Quality actors all properly managed to string together a complete narrative that rarely missed. Sure some of the standalone films over the decade missed, but they typically fixed mistakes or learned from them. They had series change directors, actors, all while still maintaining an overall vision (no pun intended) that was great and added characters on the fly without it feeling unnatural. Black Panther was only in about 20 minutes of Civil war buy came out of that movie in a way that he was a star character up there with the Original Team. Shit, he only had his 1 movie, and then maybe 20 more minutes of screen time in tInfinity war and endgame. All in all that character had maybe 2 and a half hours of screen time and became a top Marvel character. Strange and Antman were tied in well too, and the Guardians slid into the Avengers on the fly perfectly.

the fall of marvel post Endgame will be studied someday for the way in which they have completely failed every project since. How they took a good thing and oversaturated it. How they introduced new threads and characters that disappeared or were never mentioned again. How they actively talked down to, hated, and blamed their own customers for their failures. Chadwick dying was a major blow that set them off at a complete disadvantage coming out of Endgame when TChalla was set to become a major leader of the franchises. But even then not much would have changed - BP2 would have been better but they have siloed every franchise since so its not like he was missed elsewhere.

they fumbled so bad they brought back RDJ as a hail mary and are going to lean into the Multiverse shit so heavy because they have no other choice, they ruined their only beloved characters and pushed their shitty political and Diversity initiatives so hard and they fell so flat that they don't have a single marketable property to sell this dump of a film.

F4 has to literally end up the best movie ever, with this cast being so well liked that they can anchor Doomsday. And I just don't see that happening in a movie set in an alternate dimension that ends with them losing to Galactus and fleeing to our reality.

All they had to do was give Bucky the shield, Make She Hulk without actively shitting on and ruining the Hulk, and had some level of oversight on Taikka in thor and the writers rooms on Wanda and Multiverse of Madness and you would be looking at the highest grossing Marvel film ever. Instead its going to limp out like a popcorn fart when no one wants to see Evil RDJ vs a bunch of nobodies.

Yes as bad as DC was getting pounded by Marvel, Disney went and flipped the script.

Marvel leaned into kiddie cartoon level bullshit while DC went all Godfather crime drama.

DC pulled out some wins while Marvel collapsed into bullshit.

Batman works best as Grimdark shit. Hes the only major comic character that deals with street level murderers and shit on a daily basis. His origin is dark shit. They had such success with Burton and Nolan there is no way they can ever try to make that work as a golden age of comics light setting. that ship has sailed.

Their biggest mistake was trying to catch lightning in the bottle with a shared universe. I though Cavill was a great Superman. If they would have given Snyder a true 2nd film to hash out the character, then a proper BatFleck solo film, before justice league it might have worked.

Cavill as superman ruled.
Afflect Batman was cool and his fighting style and action could have been a great basis for a franchise.
Wonder woman worked great alone.

Jam them all together while trying to speed run 2 - 3 phases of a universe in 3 movies just wasnt it and nearly destroyed the properties.

edit: I never liked Aquaman so much I dont even think about him in these. Momoa gets an A for effort I just dont know how anyone could ever translate him to a successful film in the 2000s.
