Keep in mind parent company Disney still owns Industrial Light & Magic, this was a separate group fired up to bolster Marvel's FX resources as the number of Marvel projects increased - and theatrical releases were still farmed out between a ton of effects houses.

This doesn't particularly suggest Disney is optimistic that they'll have a large number of Marvel projects in the pipeline post-Secret Wars.

This was the Marvel visual team that Feige hand picked and have been around since the beginning. They are allowed to bring them back as contract, per movie/show basis instead of being salaried. They are doing it to not have to pay them all healthcare and other benefits. It's already why they shifted a lot of production to London cuz they don't have to give them healthcare/benefits there.

I mean, he should feel like a failure for even entertaining Ali as Blade to begin with. I am sure they can find a better (and younger) actor to play Blade, but whoever they choose is going to be in the shadow of Wesley Snipes being just a perfect Blade and the best part of all 3 of the movies.

I still remember the summer Blade came out and my buddies and I all went up to college station to go see it at some movie theater in Bryan because it wasn't playing at the big one in college station. Theater was completely packed and I think we had to sit in the first or second row.

It was a perfect summer movie and none of us expected what we ended up on the screen, and the ice skating uphill line at the end, I don't think I've heard a theater laugh and cheer that loud in my entire life.

It's a shame they just don't bring Snipes back.

In some alternate universe they probably could have pulled off a very well-written Blade movie with Ali by making it a grounded, detective story with Ali investigating a trail leading him to a den of vampires and figuring out a compelling way to take them out instead of charging in swords blazing for whatever reason.

Instead they kept writing scripts trying to sideline the character in favor of his daughter being the girl power version of the character for "modern audiences"

If Ali is gone then just put Snipes back in with the next Avengers movie or something else. He was already in Deadpool so why not.

Yeah you would think it would be a no-brainer to print some money. I mean if you're going to go hardcore member berries about stuff, why not take it to the limit...

Snipes was in a muscle suit for Deadpool/Wolverine. I am sure he'd like to come back, but not sure if he's willing to get in shape again for a full movie. Dude was looking pretty gaunt last time I saw pics of him.

Mahershala Ali is a saint for throwing all those scripts in the trash.

Keanu is going through something similar right now with Constantine 2.

Actors having agency over big studio scripts is not a bad thing-- it saved us from whatever woke abomination Feige had planned.
