Star Blazers with the Wave Motion Gun
I love you, no homo.

That was my favorite thing as a kid. If you have not seen it, you really should watch the live action version (made in Japan) that they did in 2010. It is a pretty faithful adaptation of the cartoon, and the sequence with them firing the Wave Motion Gun the first time is fucking amazing. The movie might not be for everyone but I liked it well enough and have watched it several times. Mainly because the main chick is one of the hottest asians I've seen (for me at least).

The whole movie is on YT. This clip should start where the whole sequence begins, but if not, start around 18:30 or so. The fucking shockwave from the gun firing gives me wood every single time.

All the reviews, by actual people, are 7/10+. I know of no one who disliked it. They already green lighted Masters of The Universe Sequel probably only for Amazon Prime.

I’m very curious how weekend 2 will be, and if it’ll follow a predictable second week drop off pattern.

How many fathers were holding off taking their sons until they heard whether or not this was more woke slop?

Should be interesting.

I'll be seeing it next weekend. Can't be worse than fucking Scary Movie 6 was.

This was a fun watch. Born in 86 so the show was before my time, but was the homoerotic friction with Skeletor and He-Man as strong in the show as it is in this movie?

This movie was amazing on design. Every character was awesome, if you have kids I recommend. It's not a masterpiece but I enjoyed it

Elba was very odd. I don't know why you got Leto to voice Skeletor. A

And Skeletor was also played by Jared Leto. Probably his best role ever. He didn't have to put his personal bullshit spin on the character.

Loved he-man as a kid. G.i.joe was my absolute favorite, but he-man, thunder cats, transformers were all up there too. Had castle greyskull set and figures but don’t remember exactly all what guys I had. I remember man-e-faces, skunk dude (saw one like 30 years later and it still smells, that smell is instant nostalgia when you smell it) the moss guy who had like felt for skin. Had some snake guys that did random shit, one had a spring loaded long neck, one you could fill with water and depress it and water would shoot out of his mouth.

One day I went to get my stuff out of the closet to play with it and couldn’t find it. Asked my dad where my he-man stuff was and he said “I gave it away to a family with a kid who likes he-man, I never saw you playing with it.” I remember being like “but I do and I was just now trying to play with them” and he was just like shrug too late. That was pretty traumatic as a 9 or 10 year old.

I had a bunch of he-man figures, my fav was the leech dude, you could stick his face to things. I’d leave him all over the house for my mom to find haha.

On that note while I’m feeling nostalgic, I remember as a kid when I was probably no older than 6-7, my grandmother would play He-Man and She-Ra with me.

I was He-Man, she was She-Ra, and I’d build blanket/pillow/cushion forts out of all of her furniture in her condo. She’d crawl around on the floor inside the fort with me.

Looking back on that now, as an adult, I can appreciate her kindness and patience. She had a lovely condo filled with very nice, ornate, furniture and she’d allow me to wreak havoc all over her condo in the name of building a badass fort. Then on top of it, she’d actually engage with me to the point of a 55+ woman being down on her hands and knees crawling through forts made of her nice, expensive, cushions and pillows and sheets and blankets. Acting as a character she probably did not understand in the slightest, beyond her silly name, “She-Ra.”

What a wonderful woman she was.
