You tell me, you're the one who said they are paying 0 dollars. Sounds to me like your claim was that I can get a bronze plan for exactly 0 dollars a month, provided I pay 34% more in out of pocket expenses than I would for the silver plan if I get sick or injured.

But you tell us Mikhail. What were you claiming?
You pay $0/month after the tax-subsidies.

ON THE SILVER PLAN YOU FUCKING RETARD.
Those people aren't paying 0 dollars for the bronze plan, bro.

And let's just be honest for a second, the bronze plan is a scam. You're paying almost as much for the silver plan, but they cover 34% less of the costs when you get sick.

HOLY SHIT. SOMEONE GET CNN ON THE LINE. INSURANCE WITH CHEAPER PREMIUMS HAVE HIGHER COSTS WHEN YOU USE IT.
Mikhail, do you not see the irony that on the one hand you're telling us everyone should sign up for the bronze plan because its cheaper, and then on the other you're claiming that higher out of pocket costs for the bronze plan are acceptable?

So are people supposed to get the Silver plan, or the Bronze? If they can't afford the silver, they should get the bronze. But then instead of paying 6% out of pocket when they get sick, they pay 40%.

Here's your problem, Mikhail: this situation is called a rock and a hard place. That's what we have. People who fall into this area are stuck between a rock (the Silver plan) and the hard place (taking the bronze plan, paying almost as much out of pocket each month, getting a larger return back at the end of the year, but paying nearly HALF, versus less than 10%, of out of pocket costs if they do get ill.

And the government won't be helping them cover that 40% out of pocket costs if their injury is catastrophic or their illness is life threatening. Like cancer.

So, basically, you're stuck in this position you've put yourself in of arguing that this is actually GOOD for these people, why? Because you're so in bed with your ideology that you can't take even the tiniest bit of legitimate criticism without flying off the handle like a retard.

Now. I have to go to class.

Please don't give yourself a stroke or heart attack while I'm away.

You might have only signed up for the Bronze plan, and it'll cost you quite a bit to fix either of those problems if you were to encounter them. So for your sake. Keep the blood temperature down, exercise lightly throughout the day, and try to practice breathing exercises to keep you calm.

/sigh

It is true that people's out of pocket expenses on a month to month basis will go up for the first year when they first sign up for a shitty bronze plan. But its also true that those expenses will be reimbursed the next year that will then fund premiums for the upcoming year, and technically will be out of pocket zero dollars for premiums. But the problem is getting that first year of premiums paid by a family that is already struggling to pay rent, bills, and raise a family. Not to mention the bronze coverage sucks balls but is still better than nothing.

And to make matters worse there is a no mans land of people that live in a shitty no expanded medicaid state, myself included, that can't qualify for subsidies or medicaid and would have to pay full price with no kickback coming on tax day. That reason alone is enough to make me want to burn the whole motherfucker to the ground and start over.

Does that pretty much cover where we are at with Obummercare?

The obvious answer is single payer, universal, socialized health care. I think we can all agree on that.

And the fact is that if you roll over your tax credits to pay for the next year, you're technically never getting reimbursed for that first year's coverage.

Its kinda like back in the day when I sold weed. There was a buddy of mine who wanted me to front him a 8th each day, and each day he would pay me back for the previous day's 8th.

He got super mad when I pointed out that technically, the way this worked out was I would be out an 8th permanently, that I never actually got paid back for. The first day's 8th is just a write off, and each day's "payback" on the previous day's 8th was really just paying for today's 8th.

That's basically the situation you have here. The first year you pay in, you're out a cool 8 grand. There's no getting that back. THEN, you get to apply a 7 grand credit towards NEXT year's 8 grand cost. You're still out another grand though.

And the shitty bronze plan leaves you holding 40% of the cost bag if you do get sick.

So that shit's a purile scam.

Yup.

Its probably why these pricing structures exist, so when they start kicking in, the pressure will mount to shift entirely to single payer.

Which is a good thing.

I'm still not sure how Mikhail turned our conversation from discussing a simple reality that sucks that will have to be addressed, into some sort of attack on the whole idea of the ACA though.

To Araysar: Nope. Mikhail still pretty rustled up from months ago though. Which always makes me glad to see.

Goddamn I love having that effect on people.

Lol, ya. If they could only come together and fight for the common good. Tag teaming garglechimp for example.
What part of me presenting him with facts he couldn't handle, resulting in him breaking down into a screaming fit and scrambling wildly for anything to help prove his point, to the point he wrote himself into a corner where he was defending the Bronze plan as being the way to go because it was cost affordable, while also supporting the fact that the Bronze plan leaves you holding 40% of the check if you get injured, says he rustled me?

I'm pretty sure he's the one in all caps screaming insults again. Not me.
