Actually, "blindly" is a pretty apt adverb. I, like many people, thought that the bits of information I had heard were enough to form a conclusion. It became apparent early on that I was wrong. I readily admitted it and spent the rest of the countless pages of BOTH Zimmerman threads defending Zimmerman and his actions. What's the problem?

Here's what happened: Someone posted a link to a story explaining how a woman went to court for attempting to hire a hitman to kill her husband. She was found innocent on the grounds that she felt her life was in danger and she felt she had no other choice. While it seemed strange, I gave the justice system the benefit of the doubt and figured they must have had good reason to find her innocent. Maybe she had tried to go to the police but they couldn't help her, say because there wasn't enough physical evidence that her husband posed a threat or whatever. Point is, it seemed feasible. After having been exposed to more information (most significantly a YouTube video of the woman's husband giving his side of the story), it became apparent that the legal system had in fact fucked up. It was a lousy call made for lousy reasons. Like the Zimmerman case, being given more information changed my perspective and opinion on the issue. However, I became permanently branded as the guy who endorses women hiring hitmen to kill their husbands. Now you know.

And Mikhail, I for one would very much enjoy hearing your views on communism. You seem like a well-spoken person who thinks about what he says before posting, and you've made plenty of great arguments in this thread. (Truth be told, you're kind of destroying Araysar, although I doubt he sees it that way.) I wouldn't blame you if you didn't want to subject yourself to the tidal wave of ignorance your views would almost certainly provoke, but you'd have at least one reader who'd be genuinely curious as to what you'd have to say.

And just when you think this is it, its all over for Dutch as he pulls himself across mud and into the reeds, you realize that mud masks the heat signature.

The rickshaw is like those reeds and roots, and the lack of edit button is the mud. The garglechimps are the dumb predators who always lose at the end.

To be fair, there are some posters you simply should not engage under any circumstances. I honestly don't even remember how long I've had ZyyzYzzy on ignore, but it has significantly improved my Rerolled experience. He has never made a valid point about any subject and his posts are universally worthless. If you become the kind of guy that has to respond to anyone who mentions you directly, you end up wasting a lot of time and energy on people that simply aren't worth it. Plus, people might take advantage of that trait and make you look like an idiot (just ask Hodj).

No, "white guilt" had nothing to do with it, as always. There's no such thing. It was made up by bigots so they could pretend they're not assholes. What actually happened in both cases was that I came to one conclusion with limited information, then another conclusion after getting more information. This is part of the human experience. If nobody ever expressed a thought on a topic until they knew everything there was to know about that topic, the entire human race would be mute.
