The president of the Fenway Group, John Henry just purchased The Boston Globe for 70 million dollars. The Globe is located in Boston on 19 acres of land:

Looks like Cruz is going to accept the suspension starting today. Good thing the Rangers just picked up this new defector, Kelson Cruise.

Major League Baseball announced it will suspend Alex Rodriguez for the remainder of this season and all of 2014 for his role in the Biogenesis scandal. It becomes effective Thursday. That's 211 games, by far the longest PED suspension ever handed out by baseball. He will appeal, and is expected to be in the Yankees' lineup tonight.

Except a 211 game ban is the League making shit up. The JDA and CBA specify 50 game, 100 game and lifetime bans for violations. ARod gets to appeal, but who knows, maybe the MLB will fire the arbitrator again?

(I'm a Sox fan, backing ARod in this leaves a fucked up taste in my mouth.)

They also, supposedly, have him on trying to help the corrupt doctor recruit more players to join his steroid dispensing practice as well as destroying evidence and impeding MLB's investigation into the whole affair. That kind of behavior might not be covered under the JDA but I think any reasonable person would agree that it does fall under the commissioner's responsibility to act in the best interests of the game.

If the evidence is as good as is being speculated on in the media I don't know how the arbitrator gives him any slack. Baseball obviously cannot have players participating in, profiting from, and trying to protect steroid rings from the league.

will be interesting to see if the rangers can beat up on teams for the next month. Their best hitter is gone, so these should win series become big question marks. Its gonna take some impressive pitching and people stepping up for the rangers to make the playoffs. Its definitely still possible, but I'd rather have cruz in the lineup.

Bud Selig is a crooked, grandiose piece of shit. He did nothing for years and all of a sudden he launches a ridiculous investigation. On what basis can he ban someone who's never even tested positive?

They don't play any teams over .500 until the next A's series in September, while the A's schedule gets much tougher in between now and then.

The Rangers pitching has already been pretty impressive - Both Holland and Darvish are top 10 pitchers in the majors right now (going by WAR), Holland has actually been better than Darvish if you look at the pitching stats that actually matter. They also have an elite bullpen and top 10 defense.

Let's be honest here - the extra playing time for Gentry/Engel Beltre and their better defense and base running will mean they lose very little in terms of actual wins with Cruz gone. You'd love to have him back for the playoffs though because he's a postseason monster.

It could all fall apart if Andrus and Kinsler go back into a slump but assuming Darvish/Holland/Garza keep pitching like they have so far this year they will at least snag a Wildcard. One thing is for sure, when they play against the A's they just look like the better team.

You don't have to test positive anymore, just need evidence that you procured PEDs. And evidence was overwhelming, or those 12 guys wouldn't have all rolled over and accepted the penalties.

The should have bought Morse when they could.
Morse has been terrible, like 2012 Michael Young level terrible. They wanted Morales.

His numbers are down due to being injured often this year. However when he has been completely healthy he has been very productive.

Rangers could have bought him on the cheap and would have had pretty good power production insurance for Nelly for the rest of the season.

Also, his contract is palatable as well.
