What REALLY annoys me is that the writers just arbitrarily decide who used steroids and who didn't based on past news coverage. The more famous guys who had to testify are completely stained while some others go completely under the radar, while they also almost certainly used PEDs. And by that I mean Piazza and Bagwell who were around 60% while all the more famous players were significantly lower despite having a better case.

Agreed, the whole process is a joke when you see first ballot HOFers not get 100% of votes, and this has gone on forever.
Exactly. Greg Maddux is eligible next year and should be a 100% first ballot, but some fuckface will leave him off of the ballot so he doesn't get in unanimously and break that retarded unwritten rule.

Of course it's retarded. I mean Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron didn't get 100 percent of the votes. What the shit is that.

Bagwell I can try and understand...but Biggio? Come on man, 68.2? I'm out, it's been fun caring about the HoF.

Jack Morris 68%, Curt Schilling 39%. All jokes aside about Curt's endeavors after baseball. How in the world did the writers come to this conclusion? Nothing against Morris, but Schilling is heads and tails above him. Those early Phillie's teams he was on were just awful, and really hurt his win total. He edged out these guys though. Schilling gets 38.8% -- more than Clemens (37%) and Bonds (36.2).

The humanity...

Just for some lulz, the ballot results...Whomever voted for Aaron Sele should be stripped of their voting rights, as a few others.

Players with less than 5% are removed from future ballots, but remain eligible for election by special committee.

Number 20 all time in hits, made the all star game at 3 different positions. Look at him from his days at Seton Hall to the last day he played and someone tell me he took steroids....

I've been around both Bagwell and Biggio twice for an extended period of time as a guide at ranch in South, TX and they were both hunting. Both were nicer than the average guy who came down there to hunt.

Schilling has pretty much the best post season pitching record of the modern era, which I imagine has to count for something.

Honestly, the whole steroid thing is dumb...I'm sure this shit happened in the 70s and 80s as well. People having been using hax in baseball forever.

Amphetamines were widely and openly used during the exact era of baseball that so many of these writers remember as the "good old days", and those arguably have a more direct effect on actual baseball performance than steroids.

It's ridiculous and history won't look back well on this crop of BBWAA voters.

Just about all the HoFs are horseshit though. Look at the NFL one. Art Monk had to go to committee to get in and Chris Carter still isn't in. Also how the fuck is Tim Raines still not in.

My reaction to Biggio not getting in was "Fuck Baseball" and I didn't turn on anything sports related the rest of the day.

This years ballot vote was a complete fucking joke.
