You aren't going to win many games when your only run is a lead off home run in the first, but Kershaw isn't a #1 starter / $33 million per year pitcher, injured or not. The Dodges needed him to get them to a good start in game 1 and he didn't, and they needed him to keep it a one run game tonight and he couldn't. His playoff ERA is 2 points higher than this regular season ERA. He's owed $65 million over the next two years. The Dodgers should hope he opts out.

Last year the Dodgers were hitting like the Red Sox were this year. Too many strikeouts and too many guys trying to his everything out of the park instead of getting on base.

Is the Red Sox winning or contracting Clamydia worse? Neither is life threatening, but I think one clearly is shitty for a lot longer.

Would like to see the Rockies attempt to play a game in October and not just spectate during. Lead into postseason for them was a nice string of 10+ run games, and they just stunk.

Grats to the Sox, they played great this year.

What a season for the Sox. It goes without saying but Cora out managed Roberts by a mile. Cora managed every game like it was his last one. Roberts not so much imo.

Ready to "buy" a championship again, like Boston.

"Bryce Harper Watch" in full effect!

I know Machado looks like the obvious fit for the pinstripes, but I can't shake Harper to NY.

Wish list: Harper, deGrom/Syndergaard, Happ, re-sign CC. I'd "probably" stay away from giving Corbin, potentially, 5 yrs, $100-120 million. Think I'd prefer Keuchel at a cheaper rate.

Left handed bat and another starter or 2 would be good. It gets pretty thin after Severino/Happ/Tanaka. Sabathia has been a warrior but he's not the guy he was 5 years ago.

buy championships...

well YES,, everyone fucking does it no matter which sport it is-especially Baseball

in the MLB, it is the RARE exception to have a "low" payroll team in the playoffs(low being under league average. pf the 10 teams that made the playoffs in 2018 only 3 were under the league average for payroll
5 were in the top 10 for payroll and the final 2 teams were 1st and 3rd for payroll.

2018 playoff teams
AL
red sox 228 (million is implied)
Yankees 179
Astros 163
Cleveland 142
oak - 80

NL
Dodgers 199
braves 130
cubs 194
brewers 109
rockies 144

league average payroll is 139 million (basically)

These numbers are based off opening day payroll

2018 Red Sox 235.65M (1st)
2017 Astros 124.4M (18th), add 20M after Verlander trade
2016 Cubs 116.6M (14th)
2015 Royals 113.6 (16th)
2014 Giants 154.2M (7th)
2013 Red Sox 150.6 (4th)

Looks to me like only the Red Sox are buying championships.

Hue gone, Lue gone... Francona gone too? Can Cleveland go 3 for 3 in their major sports?
