JFC they pay Overreem top dollar to get destroyed

Punk getting more than 10k/10k is a travesty

Ppl knock on Colby, but he spent a year on social media and it got him a title shot and he had the skills (even if they were boring ass wall n stall) to back it up.

I'm not sure what's more disgusting:

1 – CM Punk getting HALF A MILLION DOLLARS (interim belt fight RdA vs Covington combined were $700k and champ Whittaker got just $400k show money)
2 – Romero only losing 20% after he didn't make weight for his last fight either

Please, CM Punk, fight again. Take the money! He might be out-earning Khabib for total career "professional MMA" compensation.

Blaydes only getting $25k + $25k win is insane compared to what other heavyweights are getting. Old man Arlovski is making $250k four times a year yet Blaydes might get $25k when he fights for the belt.

How is Overeem making $850k to show up? Does he really have that big a following? This is why they need that ESPN money!

Was watching with a friend that knew nothing about MMA, kept asking why Overreem was so scared

According to a report from the L.A. Times, UFC 225 drew less than 150,000 PPV buys

UFC 225 prelims do 667,000 viewers
second lowest total so far this year, beating only UFC 224, which did 574,000
Last year’s June show, with a Jose Aldo vs. Max Holloway main event, did 732,000 for the prelims.

Overeem vs. Blaydes did the peak number at 848,000 viewers

couldn't find ratings break down for any of the other fights
so don't know if it was steady growth or people just turned in at the end.

Prefight show on FS2 did 79,000 viewers.
Postfight show on FS1 did 86,000 viewers, which is lower than usual.

Conor's next court date set for July 26. Guess they are in negotiations with the DA.

Speaking of negotiations, that's why some fighters get paid more.

The fact 225 drew such shit numbers despite being a great card just goes to show how mucu damage they have done to the ufc brand and mma in general the last year.

I don't understand why people are so shocked that CM Punk got paid that much considering how big his name and following is, even if he's a total shmuck in the cage. Now I certainly wouldn't expect him to get paid that much a third time after two humiliating losses, but he probably generated more viewers than RDA or Covington which justifies his bigger paycheck.

It's all about the numbers boys and girls, not feelings, logic or fighting skill.

I remember when Floyd Mayweather was fighting on undercards and ESPN. He wasn't getting paid shit at that time, despite being an Olympian and undefeated with a decorated amateur career under Bob Arum.

Slowly but surely he started racking up the wins, but then something changed. He changed his nickname from "Pretty Boy Floyd" to "Money Mayweather". He started talking shit to his opponents and on his first HBO appearance, could be heard bantering with Jim Lampley about upcoming NFL playoff game picks (Floyd picked the Patriots, they won) IN THE MIDDLE OF A FIGHT.

He went on to humiliate and knock that guy out, and from that day forward, he was never on an undercard again, got out of his contract with Arum, and formed his own promotion. He and Al Haymon smartly partnered with Golden Boy in the early stages in order to bolster his brand and garner more interest and higher profile fights.

After he beat DeLaHoya himself, he became a self made boxer, working and paying himself, while also generating the most PPV buys each time he fought.

The UFC is different, but the same guidelines apply in a sense, as performing in the cage, while also promoting your brand (Conor perfect example) will vastly increase your drawing power which means the UFC has to pay you more money.

That's why they are careful with who and how they promote their fighters. No talk of Miocic before the Ngannou fight, NONE. ALL Ngannou dick riding, the hype train had left the station. He was all set up to be the next Overeem, or maybe even something better.

The problem was Stipe whipped that boys ass and is still the heavyweight champion, derailing that entire charade.

Rousey same thing. Conor was their best earner, even showed staying power by getting revenge on Diaz and was doing numbers like never before. Then he got a taste of that Mayweather money and now that gravy train has screeched to a halt.

The UFC has to do something about the weight cutting, and has to be more wise with who they throw their weight behind when it comes to promotion, they need to just let stars rise organically, and either add more divisions, or start really punishing guys who want to be fatties.

Speaking of Mayweather, he walks around at 153 lbs and fights at 147-154. The night he fought Oscar he weighed 153 lbs, a pound UNDER the agreed limit. He never had to cut weight, he is a supreme athlete and had a legendary work ethic, which is why he is 50-0 and made 290 million dollars last year.

Some of these young up and coming UFC fighters should take a page from his book and actually fight at a weight you can comfortably make.

Till's performance was without a doubt hampered by that snuff film weight cut.
