The tokens of devotion from the DE trainer are 75c a piece. I’ve settled on playing cleric, but looking forward to such reagent costs tbh.
I would say thats outrageous, but since Complete Heal isnt really a thing - I honestly just didnt give a fuck most of the time. Like "Bulwark of Faith" or w/e in EverQuest that added armor - that would make sense to me in this game. That little bit of mana for that buff would mitigate far more damage than what a heal would. But with just HP buffs - its basically a dangerous area where you NEED that extra bit of time to heal someone.. or more directly, your Enchanter.

As far as the lore - its in the quests, loading screens, item descriptions, and idle chat in NPC dialogue. Or, the website. Nothing crazy. Class / Race combination is probably explained, or will be explained by the lore at some point - but ya.. the lore is lacking overall. Their probably leaning on the mystery of it all as more of a crutch than a gimmick to keep interest.

I don't notice the lore unless it's shoved in my face with an interesting cutscene that's over the threshold of being instantly skipped or alt-tabbed away from. The only way I'll pay attention outside of being forced is if there are interesting characters I interact with and they're part of an overarching story arc or if the world is just really interesting. For a game like M&M that's basically an oldschool fantasy sandbox, the lore is really something you have to want to go after.

What lore do we know of any MMO sans… Conan lotr or even wow, they all had established worlds and lore before.

Even EQ was very lore absent unless you dove into it. Same here..but.. I didnt.

I got some sense of “i wonder…” from wyrmsbane named Agro and death messages but…ehhh. But perhaps the removal of the armor quests put a damper on the lore exposition of that zone.

I mean…did anyone read the lore of even their Epics in EQ? Bards doomed the world in their for exchange of some sword a dude found on the side of the road.
The monk one was about how being bards was too gay, so they decided to make Fight Club.

I thought I had read they'd be fleshing out the gods a bit more later but it was lower in priority.

I've honestly never really cared about lore in MMOs. For me the lore is the adventures I get into with other people.

I couldn't tell you why the fuck we found sky gods in FFXI but I can tell you about the time we had to take a 15 minute break because one of our raiders had to get a haircut from his mom.

Both pally and SKs epic narrative got off the rails a bit…

And “oh yeah the first SK was a iksar…no..no…no he was human, but…we..dont have an human ghost model and…okay he is an iksar, until epic 2…then he is a human.”

I love gods and such. I even started as a bard in eq legends so I could pick a cool god (bards get to choose from almost all of them), when I wasn't interested at all in the bard as a class.

I've always thought race/class/deity restrictions should be a on-average for the common people kind of thing. Individual adventurers should have less. We are already wierdos that don't live in own countries anymore.

We're jolly green giants walking the earth with guns.

I've always felt the games are better where you make your own story(aka whatever you do for the day) than what the game tries to tell you what to do. It's why I don't care for MSQ type MMO's like FFXIV, and to an extent WoW(it's never held my interest for more than a couple of months at a time). I always cringe in WoW or FFXIV when it tells me I'm champion or the chosen one. It's feel so stupid because to do anything you need between 10 to 40 people to kill raid mobs. You're far from the champion of light or whatever retarded term they use.

I just want to log and play. I don't want to sit through cut scenes.

FYI there is a ton of lore internally documented from years ago. I think it's one of the 1st things Shawn/Alovingrobot focused on, writing much of it himself. If anyone has followed the team's streams over the years it's been said they want people to discover the history of Eth-Ur organically through playing the game, and also that putting it "out there" before EA was ready would be counter-intuitive.

From the ashira/goblin "war" we see in Tel Ekir, to the floating citadel in Vale of Zintar, "Fallen" Pass/Watch, to Night Harbor, and why these places are so named... these embryonic crumbs will eventually be fleshed-out in due time, no doubt.

We have been shown a quarter of the game so far, at most, but they have mapped out (literally and figuratively) an entire continent. Every race will have their own starter city and corresponding zones, all connected thru quests, dungeons and the inter-connected history of the world, ie "lore".

I realize people (especially here) like to quibble/debate/complain about any and everything, but I think in this case, MnM's lack or lore is not something we should be focusing on. :)

I mean sounds cool and all, but really? No doubt at all? I dunno.

Hopefully they get there the game feels like it has lots of potential hopefully they focus on fleshing that stuff out and not playing elfquest referee to a bunch of poopsock manchildren.

The best example I have is the fact that Monks and Elementalists share a guild house. It makes no sense. It didn’t even make sense when they wanted to give Monks a bunch of Elemental themed stuff but it makes even less sense now.

Only so much room in NH, its not like they could just put some monks somewhere else or something.
