I'm still not sure how that justifies an annual price that would basically amount to the same as every major game release you'd see in an entire year?

I'll probably end up subbing for 2-3 months total before i'm over it. That's 30-45$. There is very few games i've played in the past few years that are better value than that.

No, you don't understand 15$ a month for game made by an Indy company with more than 2 years of development is unreasonable. A Box price, sub price and intentionally designed inconvenience MTX, for a game that's 90% Freeware made 20+ years ago and 10% reused assets made in 2 weeks is not only reasonable but the same thing.
