Had no idea that some members had access and others didnt. But I agree with Sloan in that the information should be restricted to core/trusted members. They put in a lot of work to collect and document all of that information and its a valid reward for those that have that information to be ahead of the pack. Any opinion alluding to it being petty is disingenuous at best. It'll all come out, definitely - but having that edge at release is what it was all about in the first place if I had to formulate an opinion.
Personally, I think the information that people have kept insanely close to their chest in this game is the leveling path. Yea. You can level off just about anything. But experience per hour / kill rate - at some camps is just wildly out of sync with other camps. TTK on one mob at one location may be 30 seconds, but with the same exact group on the same level mob will only take half that time at another camp. Never mind any secondary or tertiary concern like availability, coin drops, etc.
But Im probably preaching to the choir if you're in Hoku's circle. I havent put near as much effort into MNM as I have other shit. Barsh, Arbaal and I put a colossal amount of hours into Ashes of Creation cornering the market, and of course, that was a colossal waste of fucking time, too. When this goes into EA - I'll see you more since I wont be concerned about a wipe anymore. Also, Sloans been playing lately but I dont think hes put any logs on the fire either since we lose these characters, again, in what.. a couple weeks?

That guild with the secret info sounds exhausting - does having a “slow leveling” player on the books really drag the guild down? If they are not part of you A team thats out there in the holy war against the npcs of this age.

There were a few people who got ratted out to us in alpha and the first beta by the guilds that they were giving info to. This is a competitive open world PVE MMO so keeping some info quiet is going to be a thing, however 90% of the info we have we post publicly to the wiki etc. Its moreso about raid content / plans than named camps and item drops - however there are alot of secrets in this game like certain mobs spawning in certain moon cycles, etc., that there is just no reason to want to share with everyone. The people who spend the time documenting all this over weeks and weeks put in real time and effort to do so.
And it is also about having a leg up on launch. Many of us enjoy the launch race to lvl and be the first to down content, etc. Have always helped other guilds with strats for raid mobs when they ask - it would be boring to just farm raid content without other people competing. That rush of knowing there are other guilds waiting to take the kills or that you have limited time to get things done makes the game more fun.

Was it though lol. Ashes was so good I dont regret the time I put into it.
Honestly, part of me is glad it went under because I was neglecting way too much RL stuff being hopelessly addicted to it.
